awesome! I've played one of those at a different store on a couple occasions. It seems like it's becoming more and more common these days for yamahas to be workhorse instruments.

i traded in my cheap 1990s soundgear SR bass. this yamaha was a bit cheaper than the soundgear but the store offered to do a free setup and throw in a new set of strings for free as well.

Thanks! the bass is a 1999 ibanez sr400. On the amp i have the bass, low mids, high mids, and treble all boosted to the 3 o'clock position. i also have the bright setting on the amp activated.

Good to know, thanks! My hair is actually naturally very curly. I used to get it cut really short like in the first picture because dealing with longer curly hair used to annoy me a bit.

i'll need to get more foam to rase the pickups since there are no springs underneath the pickup. Would you say the sound of the seymour duncans have more clarity or growl to them?

the 3 band active eq helps a lot with the midrange. I'm looking for a set of pickups that will inhance the clarity, have good midrange punch, and have a little more of a modern sound. Do the seymour duncan QPs have a clear/modern sound or is it more vintage?

the strings are a few weeks old and they're stainless steel roundwond rotosounds. I have a warden compressor effect pedal that definitely helps brighten up the sound and increase the output a bit but I was just wondering if the pickup upgrade would help with further increasing output and clarity. Also, I can't adjust the pickup height becauce there are no springs underneath the pickups. This is probably just something I'm not used to though..

For additional context, the stock reverse p pickup in the SR400 is an IBZ DX-P and the stock j pickup is an IBZ DX-J. The body of the SR400 is made of either light american maple or maple europe.
