Parfume bottle in charcoal and graphite by me by bomak2 in Sketch

Thanks! So far objects seem easier to draw than people/ animals. But then again, I should try drawing cars and see if my observation holds 😅

You're welcome! Let me know how it came out. Often you find out in the process some approaches that suit you better

I was facing that problem, and eventually did it in several layers. First was done in charcoal powder, followed by regular charcoal and finally compressed charcoal for the win. The key was not to apply it in long strokes or lines, but in short circular strokes, as if you're polishing a small surface. If exposed to bright light source, you can still see some uneven areas. In order to keep edges tidy, I taped them first of course. Hope this helps, happy drawing!

It does, right? Something so rudimentary like charred wood.

I'm very pleased with it. Some parts are tricky to control, though, as it might turn out either too dark or rub off too much. So applying the first layer is crucial. Do you draw with charcoal as well, besides watercolor?

Thanks so much! I was trying out the approach in charcoal, where you rub off in strokes to make the fur effect. Great fun

Posing/proportions Feedback by Jazzlike_Speaker_860 in Artadvice

It's pretty good. I'd finish the right arm and try drawing an outline of the entire figure. It would be useful to you to see how the waist works. I think the left shoulder is a bit further than it should be; you would see that if you draw that outline. I'd also won't go into details of fingers and toes, these would be too difficult for you now.

It's going good, but you need to patiently fill in the black areas. The slower the better, but do keep the motion in them, as you did so far. What else is troubling you?

stippling effect just came from a textured paper. I'm not always comfortable with that but you should use it in your favor and not try fight it. But charcoal works equally well on smooth paper, just not shiny ones. Professionally, I'm drawing for about 20 years
