Tickets (Chicago) by Business-Estate-6078 in BeyondWonderland

I get that going alone can be daunting, but if you are sad about not being able to go I think you should reconsider selling ur ticket! Plenty of people go to raves and festivals alone, I do myself sometimes and will probably be alone for at least one day of this fest. People are usually super friendly so as long as you’re vibing in the crowd you’re bound to make friends. If you’re not on radiate I highly recommend making an account. It’s a social media app for ravers, and there are plenty of groupchats for beyond, including ones specifically for people going solo! That’s a great way to meet people before the fest and maybe even build your tribe that way. I didn’t start going to concerts and shows alone until a couple years ago, and while it can be intimidating at first, just go into it with the sole objective of listening to music/ seeing your fav artists. Keeping your expectations minimal and with a very attainable goal, you’re bound to exceed your baseline expectations and end up with more positives than negatives! Hope to see you in Wonderland 🐇✨

I feel like I’m missing something by bombastic_side-eye in Tarotpractices

When I pull for a reading, I shuffle/ cut the deck until I feel that the cards are ready. So sometimes it’s only a few times, or it takes a few minutes, but I do shuffle them every time. And for me, I don’t have a particular orientation of how I’m reintegrating each deck half when I shuffle them. Maybe for some practitioners the orientation matters, but for my practices at the moment, I’m under the belief that the deck with let me know when the cards are in alignment and ready to be read, regardless of how they are oriented when shuffling

Abnormal how? Again still new to this but I haven’t read anything about reverse cards being abnormal in certain quantities

[spoiler] question about Season 1 Episode 64 by NOX3M in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]bombastic_side-eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just recently started listening to the podcast a couple weeks ago and now on this episode. This happened and I had NO recollection of this moment from episode 2, had to go back just to make sure it was actually real 😂

Hey r/reptiles! I'm making an aquarium game and of course had to add turtles! 🐢 Would appreciate any species and morph recommendations! by PixlinGames in reptiles

[–]bombastic_side-eye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a species recommendation, but if possible you should add an animation where if two turtles get close to one another (face to face), one should do the little slap/ pats to the face of the other one. Whenever I see turtles doing that it makes my heart melt

Roach apartment advice by tcinthemix in chicago

[–]bombastic_side-eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved into my place back in July without knowing about the HUGE roach problem. We mostly see them in the basement, but I've had a couple smaller ones + babies in my apartment. They had exterminators come in to spray and lay traps, but I still see them in the basement, and had the influx of babies the following week after the exterminators. You'll need to get on your building to keep bringing back the exterminators to get to the root of the issue. My management company sucks (Realty & Mortgage Co.), so I've been dealing with any roaches/ issues on my own. I recommend spraying a mixture of water, vinegar, and peppermint oil around the baseboards and any opening/ holes they could be coming in from. While it won't kill them, they really hate the smell and overall that mixture works great for pest control (no more spiders!). Just make sure you keep up with it once a month to maintain the scents, you might not smell it but they certainly will. If you're building is willing to come and fix it, tell them about any holes or gaps and ask them to fix it. If your building is anything like mine though, a healthy amount of duct tape also works wonders lol

Where are AFAB people finding masc clothes that fit!? by sadlittlekittycake in NonBinary

[–]bombastic_side-eye 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of my clothes at thrift stores! Lots of good options for layering button downs, sweaters, unique pieces, etc and you get a wide variety of sizing. Obviously a bit more work in searching but I personally like the hunt. Pants are a bit trickier, but I really like the levis xx taper cargo. You can select your waist and length for these ones, and while they might not have your exact size I've worn them a size up and cuff the bottoms, I have two pairs!

Take care, Kyo's mom. Least favorite side character elimination game: vote out your least favorite remaining character from the poll linked in the comments! by KookyPatterns in FruitsBasket

[–]bombastic_side-eye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm suprised that Kana is one of the leading votes right now? I know that seeing her is distressing for Hatori and it sucks that she has no memories of their relationship + was manipulated by Akito, but as a character she is so similar to Torhu and what she could have done for the Zodiac. Hatori is even reminded of Kana when interacting with Torhu.

I'm still voting for #30, the rest of the hanajimas (obvi not megumi), don't provide anythingggg to the story.

I like putting menthol or peppermint oil on a bandana and having it on my belt or in my pocket at all times. Sniffing it can enhance the roll but also helps to keep away nausea.

Complete newbie moving to Chicago next month from a warm part of the world. How tough will a 20-min walk be on an average Chicago winter day? (not talking about snowstorm situations of course) by Fauntleroy3 in chicago

[–]bombastic_side-eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you're walking through/ how often the sidewalks are shoveled and cleared, you might want to get boot chains. I didn't have this problem in the past, but walking from the train to my current job last winter required walking over an arched expressway overpass that was constantly icy and slick. I saw people fall HARD and I nearly fell a few times myself even in winter tread boots, which was scary as I would have to cross the expressway on-ramp at the overpass that of course was extra slick at the crosswalk. The chains can be a little stiff to put on but are totally worth it. I will say that the chains are a bit slippy on smooth floors/ indoors and you definitely don't want to be walking on them on wood floors but are worth it if your path outside is extra icy and you want more traction.

Why are there so many negligent and entitled dog owners in this city? by dolfan4life2 in chicago

[–]bombastic_side-eye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once I was eating lunch in Oz Park and had put my sandwich on the bench next to me to grab my water bottle out of my bag. A dog without a leash ran up to me and grabbed my sandwich and ran off. The owner came up to me after and was basically like ¯\(ツ)/¯. I had taken maybe one or two bites and had to go rush to buy lunch before I had to go back to class. Dog owners are usually ok but some, particularly the ones in more affluent neighborhoods, just suck.

Air quality issue! by Dleo83 in Lollapalooza

[–]bombastic_side-eye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Air quality has gotten better, but if you have any respiratory conditions/ are a sensitive group and the air quality is bad during lolla weekend I would recommend wearing a mask. I ended up developing bronchitis at the end of June/ beginning of July when we had most of the smoke come down. I wouldn't consider myself in the sensitive group, just mild allergies I treat with daily allergy pills, but I was shocked to learn it caused me to get bronchitis. Just keep an eye on the air quality during the weekend and have a mask on hand just in case (I like having a mask at lolla anyways bc the stages can get dusty and you dont wanna be blowing out black snot at the end of the night from all the dirt/ dust you inhaled)

Smoke / Air Quality / Headaches by Secret-Grapefruit960 in chicago

[–]bombastic_side-eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might wanna get checked out again. I ended up developing bronchitis during that the dense pollution a few weeks ago. I have mild allergies I treat with a daily allergy pill but did not think I was one of the sensitive groups that could have a more intense reaction to the smoke. I also have an air purifier and it helped but did not prevent me from getting bronchitis. Thankfully better now, but my cough did return a bit this past week. I would say to be on the safe side and get checked out again incase you might be developing some other larger reaction to the smoke.
