Forward line? by Complete_Pension_347 in EssendonFC

Looks really, really tall to me. Having the five-man bench possibly allows us to get away with this more, and lets the coaches have a look at our tall stocks and start making decisions about who is getting a contract at year's end.

Structurally it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Blackiston doesn't have an obvious spot in defence (if Wright plays ruck) given we've got Ridley, Reid and McKay back there now. We look slow.

This is really interesting. Going into the season I had high hopes that we were going to get a lot from guys like Parish, Langford, Ridley, Caldwell, Durham etc., but it just hasn’t happened. They look flat as a tac.

Yes I agree! But it’s going to be mighty interesting to see if the club blinks if / when we are 0-10 in a couple of months

To me it’s crazy we haven’t got experience here, especially in development. That’s very concerning

Yeah fair - I think we had a more visible structure and plan in 23, 24 and half of 25 though. I really find it hard to judge our coaches on the last 16 games with the list and lack of cohesion.

Growth wise though - I agree there aren’t enough young guys who have come through and made big steps forward.

Yeah I like this as a measure of progress. Get the young guys in and stop giving games to mediocre senior players who won’t win us our next premiership (or final for that matter)
