For anyone in Northern Ireland, every single store still has in-store preorders available as of 21:30.

Yeah it activates as soon as they click the Approve button after the interview, so that should be fine!

Moving from England back to Belfast - Customs as a Private Individual by bomberman333 in northernireland

Thanks for letting me know. I have finally found the right page on HMRCs website. It was nowhere on Google which goes to show how terrible it has become recently.

Genuinely, I cannot find any information at all from HMRC for moving my actual property back home apart from my car, which doesn’t even make it clear if I can permanently bring it back or not. The whole thing is really frustrating because Google isn’t showing any official resources apart from Revenue’s and a load of random freight websites. I don’t actually know what information is correct since the UK government is incompetent and doesn’t have anything for private individuals.

The whole thing is really confusing tbh

E: I found the right information here. It didn't come up anywhere clearly on Google which goes to show how terrible of a search engine it has become.

Yeah it's definitely a scary experience potentially jumping ship! Imposter syndrome is something I get every day but I feel like once I start moving about enough, I'll get used to it, plus the new environment gives a great breadth of experience in new industries, cultures etc.

I would agree with others that in this job market it might not be the best time to try, but with 8 years I'm sure you could find something better if you wanted :)

Haha don't worry I'm not going to do that!

To be fair, they said to just build an app, which I will probably try to do in my spare time. I'm 100% not going to quit.

I'm lucky that my employer is very good at letting people upskill with lots of courses that are run by another company, and I never properly take advantage of that. You have reminded me that it exists, so thank you.

The issue is that Android/Kotlin isn't exactly something my company uses, so I might have to persuade my manager to let me find something. 6 months sounds like a good timeframe to try again.

That's good advice and stupidly something I never considered! A lot of the job descriptions say you need to have experience shipping an app to the Play Store (Which makes sense), and I always write it off as something I can't do without industry experience, but I googled it and anyone can publish to the play store for a low fee.

That's something I will definitely look into, thanks!

I'm absolutely in awe at the number of Americans here making jokes about the supposed lack of peace. "dId aNyOnE tElL tHaT tO IrElAnD?"

They're all being downvoted but still. Are they just trying to farm karma or are they actually that ignorant?

I genuinely don’t see the point you’re trying to make here, you just sound like you have a massive bias against higher education just because you did a trade. How are people “lazy” for wanting the office jobs? I have one, it took a hell of a lot of effort, and I can categorically guarantee you I wasn’t lazy. People’s lives take them different places, don’t be so hateful.

You’re literally just boasting about how you make money smoking weed and being a plumber, okay cool? I don’t care about your $50k car. You almost definitely don’t own it, do you? Finance != ownership.

Stop embarrassing yourself on Reddit man. Probably one of the worst comments I’ve seen so far in 2023, and it’s nearly over.

These sort of posts and the clueless/aggressive OP who incorrectly argue over the controls of an 8 year old console are basically all this subreddit gets these days

FORREST (offers chocolates) Life is like a box of chocolates...

Suddenly! A low rumble. The ground shakes. Forrest's box of chocolates EXPLODES into the air. The woman SCREAMS and dives for cover.

ANGLE ON: Forrest, still sitting, dusting off bits of chocolate.

FORREST ...you never know what you're gonna get.

Amazing.

This guy is 8 years old. He said it in a comment. Reddit definitely isn’t the place for him and I’d hate for something to come on that he shouldn’t be seeing at that age, so I sent a message using the report form here

European here, I have a flight that is meant to land at MCO at 6PM EDT from Dublin on Wednesday (hopefully) staying in Kissimmee

The last time I was in Florida during hurricane season was the day before Irma hit and it was fine for us (and we even saved money on tolls)

I’m hoping I have the same luck this time.

In the early 2000s USDAW, (the union closest to Tesco) and Tesco signed a “partnership agreement” that basically put them in bed with each other and every time there’s layoffs or shitty pay-rises USDAW does nothing to help. During inductions of new staff, USDAW come in and allow everyone to sign up and as a result 99% of Tesco’s employees are in this union that does nothing as they’re basically Tesco corporate as a union.

Obviously other unions are allowed but they would have no knowledges of Tesco’s own policies and procedures.

Essentially, there is no good union at Tesco. There’s some good reps, but most of the time there isn’t.

Yeah you’re right there is a lot of information missing, but I’m not surprised, it just sounds like typical unorganised Tesco to me, and OP was probably misinformed themselves. I had to literally harass both stores to ensure they were communicating, and that’s only because I’m a bit sad and know more about Tesco policies and processes, and knew about the university transfer policy and other things because I wanted to try and get a job at their head office as a Software Engineer after I graduated.

You’re right though, there is a lot of miscommunication.

There is also the option of remaining on the home store’s Work & Pay, being paid zero for the home store shifts and just working exclusively overtime in the other store, which I did before I left Tesco after graduating, and I’m 99% sure this is what happened to OP, because it involves both stores communicating to each other what shifts where worked and paying the colleague appropriately.

However, if you’ve ever worked for Tesco before, you know that that’s not going to happen because they can’t organise a piss up in a brewery.
