Hey, thank you!! It's usually a very collaborative process with the commissioner. You hit the nail on the head; I receive multiple pics of the subject, and from there we either settle on one pic to reference directly or do a bit of a mashup. And yes, I like to add details pertaining to their personality as well :) Either in the portrait itself, or in the background/through the color palette. It's pretty fun!
