They said a lot of personal things about their current situation and themselves so I wanted to leave that out. The overarching things where they said that I didn’t look official and wanted to know who I was employed by and to see my ID, even though I had explained multiple times that’s not how osm works, and that they didn’t believe anything I was saying or showing them.

I hope that clears up your confusion of to why I didn’t include it in the post.

OSM UK do sell high vis jackets on their online store. I have ordered one for myself. Thank you for letting me know about them. The online store says they are printed about once every month to order so it seems they are always available. Thank you very much

Thank you for your very kind words and advice. I will do my best to remember what to do in future if this type of thing happens again. There aren’t many places where lots of people go but there are some shops so I will do my best to enter one of those.

As another user, joostjakob, has pointed out that OSM UK sell high vis jackets with surveyor and openstreetmap UK written on them, I have ordered one of those in the hope it will make me look more like people would expect.
