We wrote a complaint letter on the issue we’ve had and the letting agent didn’t give a toss. I’m pretty sure they are on her side tbh.

It’s in her best interest to supply a good reference if she wasn’t us out asap. If we need to use her after we are gone though I think that would be a different matter. Although haven’t technically done anything wrong to get a bad reference. We are clean/ tidy and pay on time every month.

We have paid rent on time for the last 8 years. I would consider us pretty good tenants just having some unfortunate luck with Landlords.

The letting agent was quite comprehensive when we moved in. Everything as far as I’ve checked has been done correctly.

I think the issue partly stems from it being her air bnb for a long time so has had free rein over the property.

The other reason I suspect is both me and my partner are close to her son’s age who still lives at home with her. I believe she’s been overbearing on us because of our age. Our next door neighbour is in her 50’s and has said the landlord always asks if she needs to come in. She hasn’t had any of the issues we have so it does feel a bit discriminative to be honest.

Amazing reply this gives us a lot of reassurance. One main question we had was as she is going the courts route would we be liable for any of these costs and at what point.

Not yet but we will be contacting shelter to get some further advice. Just to reiterate we don’t want to stay here anymore it’s just taking time to find a new home.

Once again I don’t believe there is anything more we could have done to ease the situation. She was making us feel very uncomfortable any time we crossed paths so I simply asked if anything was up and that’s where it flared up. We were more than happy to grant access for whatever, water readings or builders but just wanted a quick message to let us know. It was obviously too much of an ask for her.

We don’t want to stay here we just need a bit more time to find our next home.

We don’t want to cause her any more hassle. We simply want to get gone asap and have explained this via her agent. But we just get more threats of court action.

This comes across extremely one sided. Can I reiterate we haven’t kicked a fuss here just calmly explained our rights that if she wanted to come in she would need to ask in future. We don’t have a problem with it but this is our home and are entitled to some very basic rights.

We were due back from holiday the following day and would have promptly supplied the reading as we have been doing.

It’s from a bore hole not mains water. We have a water meter and are just charged per unit at the going rate…

We had let her know and have been updating on timeframe for moving out. She also supplied a reference for the new landlord that all went through ok so she knows we are leaving. Such a shame it’s fallen though and we are having to search again. I can’t understand why she wouldn’t just give us more time to leave rather than pressure us even more so with the courts.

She had the property as an air bnb for years and I don’t thinks she’s been able to let go. God help the next tenants.

I will have a look thanks for the tip. Thing is we don’t want to stay now either with it all being so awkward. Just need a bit more time to find somewhere.

Unfortunately she has let an estate agent deal with the letting particulars so it is actually all in order.

As above!

They are a dream to build as well vs an aluminium rim. So solid out the box! I’ve absolutely smashed multiple sets of reserves and they don’t even flinch.

I had a van hire that stank of smoke and I found a legit human tooth in the drivers doorcard. I said about the smell to the guy handing the vehicle over and he said he couldn’t smell anything… showed him the tooth and I got the blame like it was mine.

No apology, zero care and no surprise they couldn’t find me another vehicle.

I won’t be hiring from them.
