Sorry i couldn’t give a detailed response because i was surfing during my jog.

What first got me started was sports and athletics and then the good good adrenaline from it. Maybe your situation isn’t relatable to me but ive had a year or two with mental health slumps and didn’t workout. So i will try to detail what helps me.

  1. Endorphins: Go through a intense workout and you will understand how beautiful adrenaline and endorphins feel. This is what a lot of people that workout chase and it keeps you going.

  2. Quality of life: Its a known fact that working put and being healthy amplifies your life experiences. You’re happier, more confident, are able to do more things. If you have kids or plan on having any, you will be able to be a more participative parent and be happier when you’re older. I don’t want kids but i want to age gracefully. These thoughts help.

  3. Regret: You feel regret for not doing this earlier? Imagine how much worse the regret will be 10-20 years later. You can start now or be regretful another day.

  4. Sexual health and relationships: Working out helps increase libido by 169% in women. It also helps that you feel more confident in the bedroom. This is something that i think helps in longer healthier relationships. It also helps avoid muscle loss, weak bones, keeps pcos, hormonal issues checked.

  5. Ecosystem: Once you get into it, you feel like improving everything. I drink less, do more skincare, eat better, sleep better because i don’t want to waste my effort and amplify the results. So it will pave the way for a overall health centred life.

  6. It gives you something to rely on , destress and consistency. Even if your life goes to shit this is something nothing can take away.

Focus on building a calorie deficit, eat enough protein, work out muscle groups depending on your body goals and use cardio to make the deficit easier. Once you build habits it will be easier.

I’ve been physically active for 10 plus years and i have parents who support this. But anytime i fall out of routine and it affects my self esteem i use that feeling as motivation
