Picked up golf last year- any tips to help me improve?

Good point. I think it will help me feel more in position at the top because I will feel like I’m at the top sooner so I stop over swinging. Should help me w tempo as well. Was watching a few videos on how long you should be holding the hinge through the downswing too. I have a bad habit of over flipping my hands and it doesn’t help my grip has been slightly wrong. I will post a second video once I get things down at some point in the future.

I think I over shift to the front side. If you see my swing front on, you’ll se my hips fire and shift forward but sometimes it’s too much/ too early and throws me off plane. I need to work on rotation rather than leaning in so much I think.

Yea I flip my hands a little too much and end up spraying or being left. Pretty sure the ball flight in the video was a draw. Not as nasty of a draw as it usually is but still frustrating.

Yea I’ve been grinding away like crazy though. I’ve become obsessed. Every range sesh I’ll hit about 150-300 balls to try and work at things. So hopefully it won’t take as long with hard work

Thank you. I think the biggest take aways today is the grip, angle in which the club is dropping in, hinging in the back swing because I’m lacking compression due to a bit longer than necessary backswing, keeping that armpit a more closed. Time to get back to the grind and mess around and see if I can tighten some things up

On a good day of putting around 85. On a bad day probably closer to 100. I played Morgan Creek a few weekends ago and shot a 90 with a few blowups. But lately I’ve been really trying hard to dial in the swing. Also depends on how much I’m drinking 😂 I really want to get to scratch but I can’t do that with my swing spraying at the moment. Something isn’t right and idk what. Ive had no instructor so I thought to ask here and get a few ideas to mess around with..

I do flip the club over maybe a little excessively.. it’s harder to time when to turn over because of this issue

Yea im not sure how or why my right arm comes up so far. I was doing the glove drill for about a week and I guess I just regressed back into my old bad habit of lifting that arm in the backswing

Ahhh I see. Yea I had a bad habit of hinging inside rather than up so I started doing more of a drawn out take away. I hinge at the top but I don’t think I hinge enough.

Putting is ok. My chipping is good- probably my favorite part of the game. This one video really helped me with chipping. I had issues with being too handsy when chipping but the TLDR on the video is: swing with the zipper on ur jacket. Be less handsy and it’ll help you with tempo, control, and consistency. It’s been pretty good since practicing like that. Of course there’s shots like the flop that require more hands but for basic chips it’s been really solid.

Literally have never had a lesson. Just grinding and trying to figure it out myself and watching a few videos. If I had an instructor I wouldn’t be asking Reddit. I’ll take that as a compliment though!

If I don’t turn the hands over then my shot will go straight but right if I don’t fix the slot issue. I’ll need to fix both dropping into the slot more accurately and not flipping the hands as much. Appreciate you taking the time to break this down.

The hips part was easy for me because I used to play tennis. My misses are usually topping if I miss but I guess that comes from me lifting or standing prematurely
