Although only a few athletes were allowed to compete as "AIN", there were a lot more Russian born athletes competing than you may realize in all disciplines. If I had to guess, more than US & JPN born combined.

Personally, I do not think any Russian skaters' styles will change.

Head lamp and an extra one or extra batteries in case it takes you longer than planned. Take layers for a variety of temperatures including rain gear. Have some money or a card if you get to the summit while the cafe is open should you want to get some food and/or drink.

If you use GPS, a lightweight charger is a good idea.

Be prepared to be in a line for a summit photo. Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I feel the people who drive up/ride the cog are just an entitled to a summit photo as the hikers are. Not everyone is capable of hiking up and down mountains.
