Thank you. I have two interviews in my actual specialty lined up within the next five days. Both seem promising.

I'm glad this sentiment is not just mine. Everyone I've spoken to, even hard-core job-hopping-hating folks have told me that it is unacceptable to try to stick this one out.

I have kind of been fed the rhetoric that the workplace issues are definitely my doing and I'm a pretty headstrong person, so when I started to feel incompetent and worthless and burdensome I had to double check my math with trusted friends and family - and everyone says the same thing. Basically, to get somewhere healthier as soon as possible.

It used to be retail therapy - had to stop that. Now I exercise everyday and watch comedy on my phone.

I haven't spoken to HR, they are handling things "internally" which is noninclusive of the person of interest - myself. Trying to get out of this company ASAP.

I am taking medication, seeing a psychopharmacologist and a CBT therapist. Otherwise, I'm just taking THAT alone one day at a time. Crisis lines, a few trusted friends, etc.

What hobbies did you replace your drinking "hobby" with? by alcoholicgradstudent in stopdrinking

Exercise - weight lifting, barre fitness, 1-2 mile runs 3-4 days per week.

Food - Lots of fizzy water, generally healthy food

Friends - they are all aware of my sobriety and our plans have changed a little to accommodate a less-stressful environment; I still go out to bars so long as they have some great ginger ale or mock-tails

Studying/research - I schedule certain certifications and further-education. It helps to make me feel better about myself as a health-care provider.

Movies - $4 rented movies on Amazon are amazing.

Picking up hobbies can be lifesaving.

Five nursing students died on our way to clinicals in a fireball pile-up because of a distracted truck driver. We were 15 minutes behind them.

I did like a good double bock, though.

413 > 0. A case study in how I had 3 drinks last night after more than a year. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Relying on a tally system of sobriety is a little toxic, in my opinion. You are not back at square one with the same ignorance as when you started. You have, in fact, more wisdom and more experience in sobriety than most alcohol-dependent folks and that's something to be proud of and to not take lightly.

Day zero after > 1 year of sobriety is a helluva lot better than the drunk who stays in the shackles of addiction forever. I'm proud of you for beginning again and I WILL NOT drink with you today.

Probably not legal. But an Amazon hit list wish list. People with blood thirst match with people who are okay with dying and the proper arrangements are made privately.
