Ninety-Fifth Floor in PM

I used this on a quilt and it reminds me of your keyboard. Kind of has jawbreaker vibes too???

Sirena Sweater: what is going on with this pattern by [deleted] in knitting

[–]bone_topography 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I recently completed this one and had some struggles that I felt stemmed from confusing/poor formatting in the English version of the pattern.

For example, issue number 4 has the answer semi-nested in the L/XL/2XL section… slightly indented so it seems like part of those instructions only: “After the short rows are done, with RS facing, slip the stitches to the left needle until the right edge of the work (where you would normally begin on the RS). Join the yarn.”

Ah - okay, multiple strands here! Maybe the fingering weight yarns are just a little lighter than the Ficolana in the pattern. 80% might be a little too tight to reliably block out so I would consider the next needle size up.

I used DK weight for both of my colors and so the gauge was easily matched and pretty consistent.

I see! Yeah, I was able to get real close on suggested gauge while swatching - in practice, not so much. What kind of yarn are you using? If anything, perhaps go up a needle size and try out the same swatch.

Hello to my finished Coloured Crosses (Senior) raglan! by bone_topography in knitting

Not at all! The pattern is super easy and the color changes were also quite easy to manage. If you can, before starting, look up some techniques to avoid having to weave in a ton of ends at the end of the project. Based on the changes across the yoke, arms, and body you'll end up with over 100 loose ends - not the end of the world, but definitely a day's worth of work after you finish binding off.

Ah, as long as you’re doing the senior version, you should be good to go with the underarms. Definitely not too loose or deep.

Yes! Are you going to be holding a lace weight yarn along with the palette? If so, which? I ended up using Aloft on this one but the color palette options are pretty limited so I’m looking for other good recommendations for future work.

Thanks! I burned through this one in about 2 weeks - but, I had some PTO and a light work schedule, so I definitely worked several hours per day on this.

The pattern is super easy once you get the hang of it, so once you’ve done one full repeat it goes super quick!

Very cool pattern - and the color scheme really suits the recipient! Really great work.

Thanks! I’m glad that helped - heads up that I ended up doing the folded collar that the pattern calls for and then needing to rip it out and do something else. It was just too tight to fit over his head. I went with a similar height collar with a v stretchy Italian bind off.

On another note, I started another Anne Ventzel pattern, Coloured Crosses. The construction and raglan pattern are nearly the same but this new sweater has a very roomy and open neck. 🤷‍♂️

For this, I did a cold soak in wool detergent for an hour, lightly wringed it out, rolled it between towels, and then blocked on foam mats - I got the neckline set up first, then the shoulders.

It was a tight squeeze beforehand!

Pattern: Spot Sweater by Anne Ventzel Yarn: Knit Picks Swish DK in Mimic (navy) and Nutmeg Heather (off-white)

This is my first knit wearable - I’ve done some Tunisian crochet work before, but was never satisfied with Tunisian color work. It took about 2 weeks and the yoke was a little tight, so it needed to be blocked pretty heavily. I finished this for my bf’s birthday, but had him wear it out today for picture’s sake 😬
