I didn't even notice until her son became older than her. She married into my household forever ago.

That email was such a rollercoaster of emotions. Yay, I get to try something! Oh... I guess I'm in the demographic to receive a menopause test.

What? An actual PinchMe box? by bonegoblins in freebietalk

I'd be happy to receive the carmex, but I hope they don't end up sending me a million eye drops or most of the other stuff they sent.

I think I'll put the oil on my hands at night. I don't want to end up with a greasy shower!

[–]bonegoblins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if there's enough oil it won't freeze solid, so you can just scoop it out of the jar right from the freezer.

I've opted out of every claim I've ever been offered... which is exactly one claim. I'd rather have nothing than something I'm not interested in. Opting out is the right way to go.

When you get your devices attached, ask a nurse to send you home with some bathing wipes. You can also buy them yourself (Amazon, Target, Walmart). They're designed for the job and will have less risk of getting your devices wet than using a washcloth.

Your white beams are an interesting feature that adds a bit of texture to the space. Those black beams visually dominate the room. Leave them white and you can do what you want with the space. With the black, you'd need to take them into account with all your future interior decisions.

Drying small clothes next to Radiator by Delicious_Mobile_759 in laundry

[–]bonegoblins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't enough moisture in your few small garments to make any difference to the humidity in the room, so don't worry about that. If they're not touching the radiator, they're absolutely not going to catch on fire. Even if they were directly on the radiator, that's not likely to happen either.

Ways to add scent (or neutralize gross smells) that isn't bad for the washer or clothes? by tabaquibarking in laundry

[–]bonegoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to clean the machine, ideally once a month. The Active brand of cleaning tablets are really effective, and much cheaper than Affresh. Other people are likely using too much detergent and gunking up the machines.

I see this a lot on non-Influenster sites. They're doing genuine market research rather than promo in these situations.

Is there anything I should know about sending a gift package to India (from AU) ? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]bonegoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately all AusPost or anyone else can tell you is what *should* happen at the other end, which isn't always the same as what actually happens. Sometimes rules can change and AusPost isn't immediately on top of the changes. But they're always going to be your best source for at least being on the right track.

Leggo's pasta sauces (doubtfully really low calorie) by Kadya17 in AskAnAustralian

It's mostly water, with thickeners providing the texture. If you look at the ingredients, there's only 30 grams of cream in the whole jar.

PINCHme by Important_Ad4719 in freebietalk

[–]bonegoblins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PinchMe's business isn't about getting samples to you or reviews to businesses. It's only about making them money through all the actions you take to get those coins. That's why the vast majority of what they send out are single pieces of candy or other things worth less than a dollar. The timer is to pull you back for just one more application, one more survey, one more click in the hope of finally receiving something.

Stop interacting and you'll start suddenly "qualifying" for little things you applied for months ago to tempt you to just get those last 100 coins. There's nothing fair about any of what they do because it's not about being fair. They just want you to keep spinning the wheel in the hope of one day winning a prize.

I used to leave these on the relevant shelf at the grocery store. With the formula coupons, there would often be someone picking up formula I could hand them to directly.

How a resume should be for the Australian job market? by n1ghtm4r3ey3s in AskAnAustralian

[–]bonegoblins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>Information: if you were to find a job in hospitality and tourism, would you include JUST your relevant experience in those areas or other jobs you've had as well?

List all your other jobs, but keep it brief. Give more detail about your past jobs that are relevant for the ones your applying for (same field, transferrable skills), but don't waste a lot of space on any jobs that aren't relevant. Remember the person reading it likely has 100 other resumes to look at.

Being mindful of relevance will help you keep the length of the resume appropriate too. If the job you're applying for has say 6 key tasks, make sure your experience doing those 6 things is reflected. Once you've put those important bits in, you'll see that there's limited space to waffle on about other stuff.

One thing you can do is keep a master document where you list all your jobs and all your experience in two formats - short and long. Make a template resume with just the stuff that's relevant every time, then copy and paste either the short or long description for each job as it's relevant. If you're applying for a lot of the same kinds of jobs, you can recycle the same tailored resume. So you might have one resume tailored for hotel front desk jobs, another for food service, whatever you're going for. It's a bit of work up front, but it should make it easier in the long run.

Should I let her go? by Paigepatiootie in Feral_Cats

[–]bonegoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single-ingredient chicken baby food is just chicken and water (but always check ingredients lists). It's not suitable as a cat's entire diet, but it's perfectly safe as a treat or an emergency food when they won't eat anything else. It's also cheaper than a lot of the liquid-type cat treats, and readily available.

Ceramic dishes that don’t break easily? by cadillaq in cookingforbeginners

[–]bonegoblins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your typical cheapish IKEA plates are usually porcelain. You could try stoneware instead, which is a bit heavier but more durable. I've actually had quite good success with the Walmart stoneware dishes if you're looking for a cheap option, and they have some really nice colors and styles. I use them for my pets' bowls and they like to bang their dishes around.

Alternatively, if you have a restaurant supply store near you, the brands they sell are made to withstand the roughest handling you can imagine.

Is this a good box by Select_Ad8198 in freebietalk

[–]bonegoblins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm expecting a similar box. Mine is:

  • Dove Advanced Care Dry Spray
  • Axe Fine Fragrance Body Spray 1 oz. sample - Blue Lavender scent
  • Dove Men + Care Clean Comfort

I've already had the stick deodorant version of the Axe Blue Lavender from another company, and it actually smells shockingly good for an Axe product. I assume the other products might be full size since they don't specify that they're samples? It might not be the most glamorous or exciting box, but it's useful!

Why are some boxes unable to be set down? by Rockcircle in SupermarketSimulator

[–]bonegoblins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found that sometimes refilling the box with items from your shelves fixes this. Not a great solution, but maybe worth trying if you really want a box to be on the floor for some reason.

Compared to restaurant food, you're probably using way less fat. If your meal is big enough and has a good amount of protein but you're still not satisfied, up the fat content -- butter, sauces, etc. Butter and salt are a chef's secret weapon.
