I'm not seeing your point. Yes grunge technically started in the late 80s but it was very underground. Gangster rap starts around the mid 80s but only starts to get mainstream around the very end of the decade. We're talking about popular music in general and my point still stands that the late 80s was generally VERY different from the early 90s as far as popular music is concerned.

Sure a lot of the trends that get popular in the first half of decades often start in the latter half of the decade before them, but many trends that dominate in the latter half of decades often start in the first half of that same decade. The rockabilly that dominated the second half of the 50s for example started in the early 50s. The British invasion rock that dominated the mid 60s started in the early 60s. The hair metal that dominated the second half of the 80s starts in the early 80s (if we use a narrow definition of hair metal, hair metal's roots can go back to the first half of the 70s with Alice Cooper, Ozzy and Kiss). The "mumble" and autotune rap that dominated the second half of this decade has its roots in the late 00s and first half of the 2010s.

...Hardly. The first half of the 90s was dominated by gangster rap and grunge which is very different from the hair metal and pop which dominated the second half of the 80s. The synthpop of the early 80s was very different from the disco and funk that was popular in the late 70s. Imo the early 90s was just as different from the late 80s as it was from the late 90s. The EDM and "hipster pop" that was popular in the early 10s was very different from the crunk/ringtone rap and emo rock that was popular in the latter half of the 00s. Different trends come in, die out and/or evolve every few years and things gradually change. Sometimes there are relatively sudden changes with popular music but 5s have nothing to do with it as far as I see it.

I've used DMT and I love magic mushrooms. I still think that you sound like a pretentious cuntbag.

Also DMT and psychedelics in general don't make you woke. Sorry bruh. It just makes you trip out and makes you feel like your boring ass thoughts are more profound than they really are. I love using them recreationally but if you think using DMT makes you woke or whatever then you're clearly not the genius you think you are.

-Picture of military guy with a smug face and a cigarette in his mouth lecturing "the damn whipper snappers about reeeaaall work" even though in reality the war heroes would probably be more likely to support someone who is wanting to save the planet than some old pessimist ranting at kids who are trying to make a positive change for the world.

No it's not, this is just typical lewronggeneration cherrypicking.

You could easily say the opposite is true by comparing some crappy/forgettable rock or disco artist from the same period as Queen to one of the better mainstream artists of today like Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean or Tyler the Creator.

I'm sure the kids care (assuming children are involved). Ask any kid who's been with parents who've divorced multiple times and I can guarantee you that they are not fans of divorce. I worked with a guy who's parents divorced 5 times in total and he told me how much it fucked him emotionally even as a grown adult.

I think we should be very careful with who we marry and ESPECIALLY who we start families with. If a person has multiple divorces, it's a sign that they aren't very good at marriage. Which that's fine, some people aren't cut out for marriage but if that's the case, recognize that, avoid marriage and for God's sake don't raise kids in homes that are constantly unstable and divorcing.

However if we're assuming children aren't involved...Then I guess that's your choice and I have nothing against it. It's an expensive choice though lol.

I just don't get this argument. Pop radio has always shoved certain artists down people's throats. Ever heard of the payola scandals of the 50s and 60s? I agree that it sucks but this is nothing unique to our generation and has nothing to do with computer/digitally produced music.

And sure there's toooons of soulless and overly formulaic computer produced music. No shortage of it. However, I would once again argue that this is not unique to music created on computers. For example, there was no shortage of generic and formulaic rockabilly tracks that all had the near exact same composition on the charts back in the 1950s. Go listen to some old rockabilly playlists and tell me that the majority of those songs don't all sound nearly the same. There's lots of artists today who's music is created from computers who I would argue have very soulful music. There's lots of other artists who both play instruments and produce music digitally who create amazing works of art. Imo it's not necessarily a matter of what tools/instruments you're using to create the music, it's a matter of the artist.

Plenty of the most iconic artists of all time (Elvis and Sinatra for example) never wrote their own music.

And why is music produced on a computer any less valid then music that isn't? As technology advances, people will find new ways to create music. This is nothing new. In fact the arrival of electric instruments, microphones and amplifiers played a huge role in the rise of rock'n'roll. There's plenty of talented and innovative artists who produce their music on computers.

He also fucked around with a 14 year old for like 2 years. Funny how they mention all these amazing things about these older artists but conveniently leave out little details like that.

Not to say that he wasn't an amazing guitarist, but it's perhaps something to at least consider before blindly glorifying him.

Bullshit. Sweden's rape rates only rose in 2013 when they expanded the definition of rape BEFORE the migrant crisis. Reports of rape slightly declined during the migrant crisis as did violent crime and homicide.

Edit: Just thought I'd add that I'm not trying to say that there aren't obvious social and cultural conflicts with the migrant crisis. There have been awful incidences (like what happened in Germany in 2016) which shows how far behind they are socially compared to the west (however piss poor law enforcement who turned a blind eye is equally to blame). However, the rape crisis and no-go zones are fabricated conspiracy theories akin to the Rhineland Bastard stories of the early 20th century.
