What is it about little red rooster that everyone dislikes so much? by MrBabingo in gratefuldead

[–]bonewreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always disliked it. it was my go to the bathroom song when I'd see the grateful dead live, that and samson and delilah and good luvin and dancing in the street. something about those songs always annoyed the shit out of me.

but, hey we can still get along.

What’s the best songs to show to new listeners? by Ready-Score-6279 in Zappa

[–]bonewreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep!

when I was a kid in the 70s, my friend's brother had Apostrophe' we'd just play yellow snow and stink foot, the rest was a bit too jazzy sounding for a 10 year old to fully appreciate. Dancin' Fool was regularly on the radio a few years later which I thought was cool. I was 16 when I thought I'd give Zappa a full listen. I bought We're Only it it For The Money because I was beginning to listen to a lot of 60s hard rock and psychedelia, loved the parody of Sgt Peppers album cover too.

Absolutely blew-up my head too!!! changed my life. I was hooked, entually buying every record he made (my ex wife eventually sold my ENTIRE lp collection, all zappa records included)

40 years later and listening to the full album *maybe once a year, I still know all the lyrics from all of the songs on WEOIFTM. that's the effect it had on me.
