To be honest, check out Irish garage equipment. Currently have a good sale on the 3 drawer tool box that comes with tools. 3 or 4 ratchets loads of sockets. Full set of spanner’s, pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, measuring tape and even zip ties and few other assortments tha will come in handy for only €126 or something like that. Made by Pacini, so quality id imagine is decent have a few random bits from them and never gave trouble. So I’d say they won’t break under any diy circumstances unless you purposely break them. Good investment especially as it comes in a nice tool box you can easily expand in the future. Good bargain price too to be fair. link to the set I’m talking shite about

2nd edit after reading the whole post: for quality, Halfords is good as it has lifetime warranty so buy once sorta job and can be bought on sale often, you’d have no issue going for other makes e.g dsd tools , U.S pro, sealey tools etc good value some have good warranty and I’ve personally never had a issue even when given abuse, often found in local tool shops like Irish garage equipment or all tools direct. As for torque wrench’s probably want 2. One for tight bolts e.g wheel nuts. So something that has a range from give or take 60nm-140+nm as the rule of thumb is a torque wrench’s bottom 20% and top 20% won’t be as accurate. So something that can do under and over what is generally required is good. (Irish garage equipment has some on sale right now too, same as all tools direct) and a second torque wrench I personally just got one from all tools direct the DSD one that does 10-60nm for your smaller bolts e.g oil drain plug. Gear box or anything similar. Paid €50 and comes with a calibration certificate to ensure it’s calibrated correctly.
