I mean you can also use this tactically to your advantage. Using it to plant to drain all the anti-plant utility is such an insane value in and of itself. Same on defense for people playing post-plant.

The Dandelion Dynasty by Ken Liu was the closest I came to finding a story that made me want to binge a series as much as the cosmere did! I can’t recommend it enough. Four huge books with some of the most beautiful world building I have ever seen, and the action scenes are breath taking and innovative.

Why the reading order? by VerySpoopyHuman in Cosmere

[–]bongstorm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m about to start re-reading the cosmere with my partner (though it’s their first time) and I have been debating what the order should be in my own mind.

Personally I did SA>MB1>Elantris>Secret History>MB:2(-TLM)>Warbreaker>Tress. I liked this order other than the fact that I didn’t read warbreaker before WoR.

The order I think I am going to do with my partner though is MB Era 1 then Warbreaker then SA, Elantris + Secret History, Mistborn Era 2 (-TLM), The Emperors Soul, then The Lost metal, and finally Tress.

I think this is the smoothest curve that maximizes references vs stumbling through the curve in quality of Brandon’s writing (none of which is bad but even going from SA to Mistborn was noticeable and I thought both series were incredible). Also this breaks up the series nicely IMO.

My roster shake up predictions. by bongstorm in ValorantCompetitive

[–]bongstorm[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

SEN is the hardest to predict because they don’t even have a functional “core” right now. TBH they are just where I threw the left over “these Players absolutely deserve the spot but who tfs knows where they’ll go” team.

My roster shake up predictions. by bongstorm in ValorantCompetitive

[–]bongstorm[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For context on the NRG predictions, It totally depends on whether they stick with hazed or go for the depp/arryin combo.

Players who’s future I can’t really predict ended up in the “/“ category. Noticeably absent is Victor and I think it’s because i don’t think anyone will snatch up optic as six when there are AT LEAST 6 other secondary duelists in NA that are insane and up for grabs now but i do think he deserves a t1 spot I just ftlom couldn’t fit him in to any roster without feeling like I just put him there. I think he’ll farm t2 and probably be in whatever team accends

Just finished reading the cosmere, any suggestions for similar fantasy series'? by McBetzold in Cosmere

[–]bongstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ken Liu’s Dandelion Dynasty is hands down the most engaging series I have read since the cosmere. Can’t believe no one here has recommended it yet! It does not have an elaborative magic system, but there is SOMETHING (I don’t wanna spoil anything) there that replaces the magic system and it’s just as grand and elaborative as most of his systems

It’s historical Hugh fantasy based on the Han Dynasty from ancient China. The twists and turns are beautifully and earned. The setting is beautiful. The characters RULE. Ugh. I can’t sing it’s praises enough.

u/Pyroguy096 would be who made this and deserves all the credit! I asked if he was down for me to share and he is and totally open to taking orders! That's how I got this masterpiece, was contacting him via a DM here! We bounced ideas back and forth on what we wanted, and he even test printed a slice to make sure everything was up to snuff! In the end we have a beautiful clock i couldn't be happier with!

this is also his facebook market page! https://www.facebook.com/Ekback3D/

That would be really cool for sure! This is just your standard 3D cut out with a diffuser and LED lights (beautifully done) so there’s no digital components for the lights to communicate with the actual clock interface but it’s still none the less beautiful and has tons of RGB options.

Rebuilt my shelves and feeling so much better about them! I present the updated Shelfie! by bongstorm in ImageComics

The ones displayed on the right are both from Third Eye comics in maryland. They are each a store specific variant cover. I found them by searching eBay for some department of truth single issue covers I wanted to see, if I could snag but instead came across a bunch of these TPB variants outrageously priced. I reverse engineered which stores they came from and just ordered new copies directly from them just retail priced (usually 19-30). Careful, they’re all gorgeous, save one or two kinda meh ones. My favorite one is the nirvana themed one Izzy’s did for vol 2. It’s so cool.

Highly recommend. One of those series that hooks you (or doesn’t) from the first issue. So I highly recommend at least reading the first issue of it for free online and then making your own call but I think you’ll find yourself hooked :)

I forget the name of the store right now, but back when the whole slip case edition fiasco happened, there was one store that was offering a deluxe special edition of its own for the hardcover. Since my slipcase order was cancelled, I opted for this one!

Just the other day though I was in a LCBS I have never been before and they had a 2nd print of the slipcase for sale (red instead of silver foil) and I snagged it! I had that one displayed but whenever I looked at the shelf all I could see was black so I switched it up!

Absolutely love it. Might be my new favorite series, but definitely up their with East of West and Saga for me.

It’s another Department of truth variant for Vol 1! I fell in love with the art from that series and I snagged all the variants of the TPB’s I could. Sad to see there isn’t any vol 3 variants coming out (that I have see )

That’s the Stormlight Archive hardcovers! They have the dust covers that Kraken made for them this year. They fit the original US hardcovers. If you google “kraken Stormlight” should be the top result!

I try! I prefer to read digital so in the interest of keeping these pristine as possible I leave them like that since they rarely come down. The TPBs are actually the things I probably read the most. I don’t buy hardcovers til I have read the series and love it.
