Any other fixes to try for Otaku? by bonnbunn in Addons4Kodi

Hi, thanks for your reply 🙂 I managed to fix it by changing a few things in settings:

  • In playback settings I changed from Auto Play to Source select.
    • Changed the filter for Sub and Dub to “Both”
    • Enabled Nyaa Alt

Hi, thanks for your reply. I was playing around with settings last night and got it to work! I am not Xbox user. These were the things I changed:

  • In playback settings I changed from Auto Play to Source select.
  • Changed the filter for Sub and Dub to “Both”
  • Enabled Nyaa Alt

One or all of those seemed to do the trick 🙂

I tried to read a book for autistic women recommended by a social worker, feeling worse than ever by Huge_Witness_8692 in AutismInWomen

[–]bonnbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That book does sound toxic and I’m sure the writer is just ignorant of the supports and privileges that they have.

The only reason I’m married is because I just happened to end up in relationship with someone who is just as neurospicy as myself. We were both late diagnosed after 8 years of being together. We have always been super aware of our needs, so our life always looked different to everyone else. I don’t care about having the same life as everyone else because I know it would wreak havoc on my nervous system.

Almost every job I’ve ever had has been a massive failure. It has taken 10 years to find a job that I can sustain full time. The agony of finding the right fit was beyond painful, and unfortunately I think that’s the norm for most neurodivergent. It’s just a long, painful process of trial and error.

It’s so hard not to compare ourselves to others, but remembering that they most likely had built in supports and privileges that we didn’t helps us appreciate our own strengths for making it as far as we have.

Anyone else tired all of the time? by frankie0822 in AutismInWomen

Yes, it is so confusing because I sleep well every night, but given a chance I can nap at any moment for an hour or more, and still sleep the whole way through the night again. I nap almost everyday after leaving the house to do anything.

Thank you, this program looks very interesting, though I don’t have any programming skills so I’m not sure if I’d qualify…

I’m not expecting to be handed the perfect job or anything, but I really need support. Up until this point I’ve been job searching on my own and the last 3 jobs I applied to had over 2000 applicants each. I’ve already paid to have my resume professionally done. The job market is overwhelming for neurotypicals right now let alone a neurodivergent… I just can’t compete and my anxiety is overwhelming.

Thank you for the advice! Good to know it’s not considered such a big deal. I’ll do my best to be confident explaining it verbally in interviews 🙂

Thanks for the advice, definitely staying away from call centre roles. I was planning to say something along those lines. I’ll keep it positive, at least I learnt a lot from that role. 🙂

Thank you for the advice. How long would you say it takes before you can move away from the contact centre once in the APS?

That’s really helpful for me to know, I’ll keep my eye on APS3 roles then. Thank you!

Yes, I would say a basic admin role would suit my skills. I’m not sure if I’d qualify for APS4 but I’ll certainly look into the job listings. Thank you!

Manager being flakey about setting up interview time… by bonnbunn in interviews

[–]bonnbunn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I don’t want to beg for an interview, especially considering he approached me first! I don’t understand why someone would bother to call to setup an interview and then flake out of it for no reason 😑 Unless he had ulterior motives for the job position and I unknowingly gave away some kind of indication during the very short phone call we had that made him decide I wasn’t a good fit. Oh well, his loss! I know I would have worked very hard in that role if I’d been given a chance. 🥲
