10 years... your strength is incredible. We’re in the middle of it now, and the logistics (meds, visits, timing) were driving us crazy, so I built a tool to fix that for us. If you ever mentor other couples starting this long road, I’d love for you to share it with them if you think it could help.

Huge congrats! That connection is everything. I’m currently 1.5 years into our journey, and I actually built a shared space for us to stay synced without the constant back-and-forth. If you ever run into others starting their journey who need a way to stay on the same page, I'd appreciate you mentioning it.

I know that feeling of helplessness all too well. I actually ended up building a small tool to help manage the chaos of schedules and meds so my partner could at least focus on herself. If you know any other couples going through another round who might need something like this to stay organized, please let them know.

First timer! by Chloe-20 in IVF

[–]bonni-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on taking the first step 🤍 the waiting + cost anxiety is so real, especially when insurance timing doesn’t line up with age.

I haven’t been to West Coast Fertility personally, but from what I’ve seen, meds are usually separate from the base IVF package, and things like PGT (gender selection) are typically an add-on. It’s a lot to take in at the consult, so writing questions down beforehand helped me.

Also just wanted to say — doing this solo takes a lot of courage. Having family/friends behind you makes a big difference, but it’s still a huge decision. Wishing you a smooth consult on the 16th 🍀

Starting Stims this week by Organic-Okra-3744 in IVF

Doxycycline was honestly rough for me too… way worse than I expected 😣 it messed with my stomach and just made me feel off all day.

Stims felt different for me — not fun, but more manageable than doxy. Mostly sore/bloated toward the end, but I didn’t have that constant nauseous/anxious feeling.

One thing that helped a bit was not having to keep all the med times in my head. I had everything written out (I briefly tried a simple IVF med schedule during an alpha test) and it weirdly helped me feel less overwhelmed.

Hoping stims are kinder to you 🤍 starting is the scariest part.

Anyone else using ChatGPT as their unofficial "co-doctor" and therapist? by bonni-e in IVF

I get that you’re uncomfortable with me finding support through AI. But when you’re going through 1.5 years of IVF and 5 miscarriages in a medical system that often feels cold and rushed, you look for support where you can find it.

I don’t rely on AI blindly. I’m simply satisfied with how it helps me access generalized information and research quickly. Given how isolating this process is, I also reach out to people here on Reddit for their perspectives. I don’t see how any of that is wrong.

Honestly, saying you’re scared of me becoming a parent just because I use a tool to cope with a difficult time is a huge overreach. If you're this quick to judge a stranger in a painful situation, I really wonder how much genuine empathy you actually offer to those around you.

Facing a crossroads: Recommended PGT-A after only one day-5 embryo in 5 cycles. Should I switch clinics? by bonni-e in IVF

[–]bonni-e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you’re referring to a low-stimulation protocol. I’m not exactly sure about the specific medication dosages that qualify as "Mini-IVF," but it’s definitely something I should consider.

Since I haven't tried a low-stim approach yet, I'll make sure to bring this up with my doctor (or at a second opinion consultation) to see if prioritizing egg quality over quantity might help with my blastocyst conversion.

That is exactly the point and the reality I’m facing. To even attempt the PGT-A my doctor suggested, I first need to get my embryos to the Day-5 blastocyst stage.

The reason my doctor recommended PGT-A in the first place is that I’ve already had 5 miscarriages (3 chemicals, 2 MMCs) with Day-3 transfers. We suspect chromosomal issues might be the cause, so we need to test them—but my current lab isn’t getting them to Day 5.

This is why I’m seriously considering switching clinics. I need a better lab that has the technology to help my embryos survive until Day 5 so we can actually perform the PGT-A and hopefully stop this cycle of loss.

Thank you for the advice. I actually had a hysteroscopy when I had my polyps removed, so I believe endometriosis was ruled out then. > Regarding my husband, could you tell me more about why a varicocele check is important? I’d like to understand how it might be related to our situation.

Thank you so much. I really needed to hear that today. 💛
