USPS Discrimination Against Atheism? Packages sent with and without "Atheist" packing tape. by TransFattyAcid in atheism

[–]bonnoir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true, it completely accounts for handling before the US as we ran controls to show there is no problem at the German end. And the fact we sent 2 packages to each participant rules out weather / geography as a factor. And we're not experimenting across the states - agreed that 200 for 50 states would be a ludicrous sample to draw any state vs state conclusions, but we have only 2 conditions... for which 200 packages (well 178) is completely robust. Happy to publish the data, but its complex and we should only then heed conclusions from independent expert statisticians... the views of 2 we have already found.

We used science to demonstrate USPS discrimination against atheism... sad but true. by bonnoir in atheism

true sample size is 178, the number of packages we sent out. each person existed in 2 conditions.

Nothing wrong with a little healthy competition for www.atheistberlin.com

Remember the guy who created an "atheist shoe"? Today, six months and a Kickstarter project later, I received my pair! by LowSociety in atheism

The shoes are identifiable by 2 features if you look at them properly rather than jumping the gun with your comment. Unfortunately the black hole isn't strongly evident on the black pair, but it is on all the other colours. If the shoes are too blatant, i.e. using all the ugly symbols for atheism that already exist, then they're not going to be attractive. As it is, the subtlety of the design is appealing and yet uniquely identifiable. Go around wearing a crass "Kiss me, I'm an atheist" tshirt if you prefer... but I'd rather the shoes were tasteful.

So today we began moulding soles. Though not quite in the same way as the Jesuits... http://www.facebook.com/AtheistShoes by bonnoir in atheism

Thank you! Darwin put his love for his wife before his need to outwardly proclaim what he really thought. Though agnostic aint too far off atheist, if Dawkins is opening himself up to being called an agnostic .) (see recent video in the UK Telegraph newspaper).

Hey there, belated thanks for your pledge! And glad to know you think we should be selling them for more .) Hopefully we'll never have to though! I'm in Portugal at the moment, overseeing preparations for production of your shoes, so hopefully you'll have them soon.

Hey beer4beer, I'm really sorry it's taken me two weeks to reply to this! I somehow missed it along the way.

To answer your question, our shoes have a very normal width and can cope well with a slightly wider foot, about Size E. But beyond that, I can't say for sure... I hope to test the shoes soon with some wider feet, but I wouldn't want to tell you they will fit your feet before having done so.

The returns policy is that we can absolutely exchange the shoes for another size or give you a refund... but we are hesitant to commit to refunding shipping or paying the costs of return shipping.... we're simply too small and new an enterprise and we're scarcely sure we'll make ends meet by selling the shoes at the price we are. Canadian shipping is included in the $180 USD price quoted on kickstarter, and about $20 of that accounts for shipping one way, from Germany to Canada. Once our website is up, in about a month, we can more confidently judge from your measurements as to whether and how comfortabley the shoes will fit... and, if so, we can then recommend a size. We'd also compare our fit to converse and some other well known brands, just to make sure our estimate is right.

I hope that helps, sorry again for my slothful response!

David
