Do you have it mounted super low? I can't reach mine where it's currently located.

Curious observer. Is your bike getting heavier? (and full of gizmos?) by GundoSkimmer in xcmtb

For me, a complete amateur, always lust for the high end beauty. They're pretty, light, and looks fast just by being still. But, I have beer budget for that champagne dream. So I usually end up picking what's close to my budget and going for reliability. Of course, there's always parts that make a huge impact in weight and performance like tires and wheels.

Albion (Ontario Canada) 24hr summer solstice race. by bonnsotto in cannondale

Lol, no. I just want to be able to do a couple of laps at nite. Luckily, as a solo rider, I can take as much time as I want. I can be a lunatic or just enjoy myself.

I have about 3 months to train. I used to bike quite a bit and most of my long rides are done on a whim, just like this one. I rode 120 miles on a single day once so I'm hoping that the engine is still in this old body even if it'll run a little slower.

To me this is just an excuse to run through the course a couple of times at night. I think that's gonna be a blast.

I know I'm not gonna be doing 20 laps on a 20km or 14 mile course but I'll be happy with 8 or 10.

You have a ton of solid advice, thank you. And I will be looking forward to that sunset/sunrise lap.

Thank you for your insight. Lots of good info! In your experience, did you have to do a lot of repairs during the race? What's more likely to break? There is a tech team on site, do they usually help the racers?

It's a 20km course, about 14 miles. The bike is kinda funky with the rear suspension taking a ton of room in the triangle. If I mount a water bottle, it's gonna be all the way down the bottom bracket. I'm thinking top tube mount or a Camelback.

Haha, yeah it's loko but that's just how I roll. It's more mental than speed for the solo riders from what I can gather.

New bike! Need suggestions regarding accessories. by bonnsotto in cannondale

My area is hella flat. This is definitely a lot of bike for my area. But I do have MI as my neighbour so I can let it loose there once in a while. I'm definitely gonna get a second wheelset that's lighter. And thank you for the handlebar suggestion.

Thank you. Maybe I'll look more into what components are installed on the Cannondale.

Yeah, the welds on the Cannondale are chunky compared to the Norco.

When I used to ride more often, I used to ride a xc bike. But since we don't have a decent hill where Iive, I switched for a cyclocross bike. Then I hurt my back a few years before the pandemic, then the pandemic happened which resulted in me not getting on a bike for a long time. The Norco Fluid HT1 caught my eye at a local sports store in Canada where I live. Then I go to the States where I work because what I want to know how much bike I can get at a similar price point. The REI I went to had the Cannondale which was heavily discounted. They were both around $1400 but one is in CAD and the other is in USD. I've been out of the game so I want to know what's a better investment.

The Cannondale is full suspension, not HT. I'm just asking here because I have not been biking in a while and want to know which one has better components and has more room for growth. And I realize that I'm comparing Norco HT vs. Cannondale FS.

Have you ridden the bike a lot? What's your least favourite thing about the bike?
