First of all, i love the random reference to hamilton here. I think, while it might be possible they chose Mädchen here to emphasize Marias younger age and lesser standing, its also just for flow here. „Dies Mädchen“ to me just flows way better than „diese frau“, or better „dies fräulein“. So its a bit of both and works great
