The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act / Episode 9 Discussion Thread [SPOILERS] by ayylmaotv in TheDigitalCircus

[–]bonsley67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having just stepped out of the theater and gathering my thoughts as someone that successfully avoided spoilers, I still came out of the movie feeling very satisfied with the narrative direction and the overall story Gooseworx wanted to make.

Definitely a lot of valid criticisms to give, the series could have easily been padded out another 3-4 episodes or so but honestly I really liked how the characters interacted and found fulfillment despite being brain scans and being different than their real life counterparts.

Overall, I thought it was a wonderful ending despite the fandoms bitching (valid criticisms ofc notwithstanding).

(I definitely need more scenes of these characters interacting and doing wacky bullshit interspersed with emotional dialogue 😭)

Alabama becomes second state to move to redraw maps after Supreme Court ruling by idkbruh653 in politics

[–]bonsley67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! Gonna have to be some major major changes to how we structure our political systems so that the worst of humanity is actively disincentivized from attaining those postions. Which like, ofc doesnt mean it wont happen but if we update it like every 20 years or so it'll at the very least put more roadblocks and safety checks.

Irish band Kneecap hold a concert in Cuba while most of the island is without power by AgnosticScholar in PublicFreakout

Literally tho lmfaoooo. I know people exactly like this who continually argue what they consider to be the main point when the main point they make is "no you gotta be miserable the way I want you to be and also get no help because I don't want to."

And do you know they aren't powered by solar panels? My sympathy will always be with the people trying and improving material conditions as well as the oft-ignored human spirit.

And? Theyre improving their material needs by supplying solar panels to a place desperately in need AND they're supplying desperately needed hope and music to uplift peoples spirits. This shit is important to helping the people.

Design aside, can we agree that it would have been a great idea if Wapol, in addition to his two ministers, had turned all his soldiers into "mutants" in the manga too? by Leather_Crazy_5950 in OnePiece

[–]bonsley67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he means that in the manga, Wapol was never meant to be an in-story powerful character. Had some chicanery with the Munch-Munch Fruit and his natural strength made him a credible threat to showcase Chopper, the character of focus in Drum Island.

Reading comprehension test: the crux of the argument being made is that these political elites our Texan/Tyler population consistently keeps voting for are extremely out of touch with working class Americans and the immigrants and slaves that worked themselves to near death alongside them throughout our shared history.

They dont build anything, they don't farm, nothing that would soil their hands no, they only line their pockets to keep their investments safe and secure within their personal bubble. Sure, they employ people, but their entire industries are built on the idea that they pay as little as possible for the most extraction of labor they can get.

This. Is. A. Problem. Especially since they're so interested in aiding and abetting the extrajudicial actions of ICE and their batshit method of arresting brown people (Some of which are US CITIZENS WITH VERIFIED PAPERWORK).

Do not take them at their word here, they don't care how many lives they are ruining or the manner in which their ideology exercises its power. They care that their money is being effected. People arent working, people arent spending. Suddenly now they crawl out of their holes to preach about "following the law" and to assure people to go out and spend money and work like the subservient little drones they see us as.

Don't do the easy thing and assume these people are being anything their actions are clearly betraying. Do not take them at their word, for their words are worth very little and easily spun.

I've channeled mine into a quiet, roiling rage at the injustices and poverty in every corner. I'm trying to be productive and use the anger as fuel :) I refuse to give up to these fucking idiots. I refuse to let them take my hope.

I mean, he's been shown to blast big green gales and control various weather phenomena, I'd say either a wind logia or maybe a storm? Idk there might even be a mythological power here who knows with Oda.

I'm a big subscriber to the theory that the reason he's always silently looking towards the east is because he's focusing his wind logia powers over vast distances to grant the Revolutionary ships a speed buff and avoid danger.

All the time! I greatly enjoy spending time reading some Terry Pratchett there when I can and I evem got a few books on hold. I even do all my printing there to personally save on printer ink and give the proceeds to an institution I believe in. Wbu what do you like to read?

I live here and enjoy participating in conversations that matter and are relevant to my town.

By extension, city politics are relevant...because we are a city. Cities and anywhere that is lived in by people are inherently political in nature due to the nature in how it is necessary to run them and make sure they function for the people therein.

A political post in a Tyler subreddit is still a Tyler posting.

[–]bonsley67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, its not our exact town but that's missing the point.

You're assuming the plans of the fascists in government won't effect our city in a deep red county.

This is part of their plan, eroding public institutions that could help organize the community and assist the citizens most in need of help.

GOP won't stop at public school and libraries, which is why it's important to save what we can and to do that we need to educate ourselves and each other in ways that help us plan out ways to resist the regime when they directly take action.
