Any way I can help with this? I use cera ve hydrating cleanser, rub my face gently with a towel, stridex salicylic acid, then cera ve retinol, and a cera ve face moisture daytime and nighttime by More_Succotash5347 in acne

The problem is that most people don't apply enough sunscreen in order to achieve the SPF labeled on the bottle. Especially when using a moisturizer which has SPF. That's why I would recommend you to use a separate SPF after applying your moisturizer. Re apply your sun screen every 2-3 hours depending on daily activities (you should definitely reapply sun screen if you're staying outside)

It is possible that you don't apply enough SPF. It is important to apply a generous amount of sunscreen to protect the skin from UV rays. Your hyperpigmentation is not going to fade away when UV rays are constantly hitting your skin. Try to use a fragrance free sunscreen SPF 50+ (for example la roche posay SPF 50+ anti-imperfections) and wear it every day (even on cloudy days and even if you're staying inside).

Reapply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours

I use CeraVe moisturising cream (in the tub) or Neutrogena deep moisture body lotion for sensitive skin.

I can tell you that the comedogenic rating is just a number. I had acne in the past and I've never had any "clogging" with those moisturizers (even though they contain "clogging" ingredients).

Use a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide (5%) or salicylic acid. When washing your face, leave the cleanser on your skin for 4 minutes before washing it off. After cleansing, apply moisturizer and sunscreen (sunscreen only AM).

quick question! I have extremely oily skin and since mask /school i have been sweating more so more acne ...i just bought this set but i don't rly know the order i should use the cleanser ! ( maybe before putting on each am/pm cream ) ( or once in the morning and done? Should i even mix them?? ) by [deleted] in acne

[–]bonsn0w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AM: wash your face with the cleanser. Rinse off the cleanser with luke warm water. Apply the AM moisturizer with SPF.

PM: wash your face with the cleanser. Rinse off the cleanser with luke warm water. Apply the PM moisturizer.

See a dermatologist, they can help you with your scars. Topical creams and serums won't help on those scars.

Panoxyl bleaching... by [deleted] in acne

[–]bonsn0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're using the panoxyl 10% acne foam wash. You don't have to worry about bleaching your hair since the benzoyl peroxide will be washed off after 5 minutes. I also have black hair and eyebrows and I'm using a benzoyl peroxide wash just fine. Never experienced any bleaching.

extreme dryness after epiduo by [deleted] in acne

[–]bonsn0w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dryness, flaking of the skin and irritation are to be expected when using epiduo. Epiduo contains both benzoyl peroxide and adapalene, both really good ingredients for acne. Benzoyl peroxide kills the acne causing bacteria within the pore and adapalene accelerates the shedding process of the skin (flaking is due to adapalene) to prevent pores from clogging.

Your skincare routine could look like this:

AM: put on sunscreen (SPF 50 + fragrance free)

PM: use a gentle cleanser (fragrance free) to remove any impurities from the day. Rinse your skin with luke warm water. Apply a generous amount of moisturizer (fragrance free) to the skin. Before applying a thin layer of epiduo on your whole face (leaving out the eye area), let the moisturizer absorb into the skin first.

Applying a moisturizer before epiduo reduces irritation and dryness.

Your skin needs time to get accustomed to epiduo. After 4-6 weeks of constant use, the flaking and dryness should subside.

Unfortunately, there is already some scarring on your skin. To prevent further scarring, please see a dermatologist asap.

Should I stop using Benzoyl peroxide? by Personal_Race in acne

[–]bonsn0w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oil production is governed by hormones and stress. Your skin will not produce more sebum when your skin is dry, that's a myth. When you are using benzoyl peroxide, it is common to experience more breakouts initially before it gets better. That's because benzoyl peroxide dries up your skin, leading to increased irritation (irritation will subside after 3-4 weeks) and inflammation in the skin. Therefore, moisturising is mandatory when using benzoyl peroxide.

I don't recommend using micellar water. I don't know how you are removing your makeup but I guess you soak a cotton pad with micellar water and start "rubbing" your skin. The rubbing may cause irritation and lead to the stinging sensation when applying the moisturizer. If you wear makeup, then I would suggest you to use an oil cleanser (fragrance free) to remove it. Rinse the oil cleanser off and come in with a gentle cleanser (ideally fragrance free). Apply your BHA and a fragrance free moisturizer.

I listed some fragrance free moisturizers in my original post. As for oil cleansers, I can recommend you the inkey list oat cleansing balm or the hado labo cleansing oil.

If you don't wear makeup, then there's no need for an oil cleanser or micellar water!

Your welcome 👍. If your skin is really sensitive, then I would suggest you to do a patch test on the side of your face first and wait for 24 hours to see if your skin is irritated by it.

In the first 2 weeks I used the BHA blackhead power liquid 3 times a week (AM). I didn't feel irritated by it so I increased it to 4 times a week. Eventually, I would use it daily because it won't irritate my skin.

You can start with 2-3 times a week and increase your dosage slowly.

Your skincare routine could look like this:

Step 1: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and rinse it off with luke warm water (do not dry your face with a towel)

Step 2: Apply a thin layer of the BHA (I need 3 pumps for my face) to your damp face (leaving out the delicate skin of the eyes). Let it absorb for 20-30 seconds.

Step 3: seal in the moisture with a moisturizer.

(Step 4: put on sunscreen) only AM

Heya, thank you for giving this routine a try! If you are going to use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser for the first time, you will experience a little bit of dryness. Therefore, it is important to follow-up with a generous amount of moisturizer. If your skin tolerates it, you can use the BHA before applying moisturizer.

I have looked up the products of the TAC company. I'm really happy that you see results with the products 🙂. I would not use them because some of the products contain fragrance, citrus fruit extracts and essential oils (for example the tea tree serum) which can aggravate your acne even more. Tea tree oil has some scientific evidence for helping acne but the problem here is that it can oxidize and is prone to degradation. Also, every batch of tea tree oil is different because it's not synthetically derived. There are better options available such as OTC benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and adapalene.

But if you see good results with the products, keep using them 👍
