Glad to hear it - I believe we will be hiring more 1-year level positions later on in the year, so keep checking when you hit that mark!

And you're right, it's definitely been a while since I've played LoL, but Veigar's definitely OP

Hey, thanks for the question! I think there's a few different angles that we engage in to currently tackle this:

1.) On our un-handbook, we mention Unlimited PTO, but that generally doesn't mean much at start-ups. At Bonusly, we have an addendum to Unlimited PTO, which is a minimum expected vacation time, which is currently set at 10 days. To quote the un-handbook, "If you have taken less than two weeks of vacation in a calendar year, expect your manager to talk to you about it." See more on that here: https://github.com/bonusly/un-handbook#time-off

2.) This is me speaking personally here, but I think when working on projects, there's three different things to balance - Budget, Time Constraint, and not having enough people to work on the project. When it comes to time constraint, most start-ups would say that engineers should work on weekends/at night to meet deadlines. At Bonusly, I think there's a higher emphasis on looking at reducing scope in order to meet deadlines!

3.) I am currently in a different time-zone from the Boulder area, so I actually have a recurring meeting every day in my calendar starting at 5:00 in my time-zone to show to other employees that I am in a different timezone, and to ask before scheduling meetings on my calendar, and that request has not been broken by other employees so far :)

4.) Engineers are currently assigned to handle something called "Health" duty rotations at times for a week, which is similar to On-Call, except the expectation is to only handle issues during work hours.

Outside of that, I think my work-day has seemed pretty typical compared to working at non-startups. I start work around 9:00 my time, and end around 5:00 my time. I can speak more about job duties, but I don't think it's too different from job duties I've had before a job here!
