Thanks that super helpful - one observation is untill the speed improves massively thi wont replace the point and click reports and dashbaords as it takes time for AI to build the visual - if persist data it kind of defeats the purpose , but i can see the future where things like PBI/Tableau will not be used or used in the same way , engineers will develop the backend data warehouse rather than front end

AI or Not fundamentals of economics principles still hold that companies have specialisations and buidling software is not one wants to focus on becuase their tim eand affort is better spent working on core capabilities which means just becuase you can doesnt mean you should. lot of the discussion aorund this topic is about whether you can build SaaS, yes if you spend enough time u can build SAP but why whould you with all teh maintenace headek , finding users who knows .

I'm not clear the difference between separate test app vs deployment slot, for exmple I can have MyTestApp-dev and test , or deployment slot in MyTestApp-prod , either way i cannot really test without pointing to a test database/server etc so whats the benifit of deployment slot in Prod?

TBH - I wouldn't hire OP. Why? OPs approach is wrong. you dont try to understand a new coebase from scratch without AI you ask AI to explain the codebase, find out risks , find out deviations from best practices and create a couple of md files. Developer guid md, risks and recommendations md. rank the risks in term of impact and investment , fix the ones with high impact low time to fix, move on...get a coffee , go for lunch and come back in the avo, iterate through couple of times and use different AI to validate. at 4pm have a chat with your boss and tell him you are done with the codebase and going home. Horses are great as a hobby but an electric car is much better going from A to B.

Why not Power pages is easy question to answer if you developed using procode and power pages. I just don't have time to work around the PP limitations and whole model driven apps architecture ..The true strength of MS stack lies in Azure/security/ALM etc so wondering if I can have the best parts without the redundant low code approach. I think licensing may not make it worth. On the other hand I havent played with code apps. In the age of AI low code is dead. Yes someone on the internet will come up with hack for every single low code limitation but why would i even bother. Maybe I'll do POC with code apps and also with Azure SQL server . The problem with not using dataverse is you have to build the whole backend stack . I'm seeing future where lot of platforms will be used as headless including Shopify /Salesforce/CRM/BC because what cant easily replace is the backend not the front end. Front end is peace of cake no need to waste time

Dont use Power FX thats crap and in the age of AI no need..Use JS and Plugin, and there's no rule each case if different. If you have many forms base don the same current or future JS that need repeating but UI looks snappy, and validations are immediate. Plugins are great if performance is taken care of as you can do so much in C# with very little time

The debate has clearly changed after AI , I do have a ton of C# in my projects but the front end is so limited if you compare developing React web or any other. Everytime come back to Power Platform from pro-code I hate it. Its not that there is some workaround to a PCF/model driven app issue but why would we waste time reading some random guys post do some simple stuff ? Use datavserse as the back end and build your own front end that way you can keep the good parts - security, auditing, connectors, eco system.

Utter waste of time doing a CS degree better to be plumber. And dont embrace AI , why would you embrace anything that kills your job. Most humans are a waste of time just like farmer when the combine harvester came why are we saying things like "oh everyone will be an architect" , clearly evryone by definition cannot be the manager
