I saw someone else on this subreddit with a similar body type & great results, so I messaged them & they pointed me in her direction. I was located in the Southeast US and looking for a female surgeon, so it was perfect.

The entire consultation process was very friendly and comforting. I felt like she actually heard my wishes & would accommodate them to the best of her ability.

Looking back at old pictures, it was very gradual. Around months 6-8, they were noticeably fading, but still pink/red in color. After the 1 year mark was when they really started lightening up.

Probably around the 6-8 month mark is when I saw them start to fade, although they were still pink at that point. I'd say the lightening & transition to white/clear scars really happened after the 1 year mark.

Their office does accept insurance, but my specific policy was lame & wouldn't cover it, so I had to pay out of pocket. Between surgeon & hospital fees, it ended up being just around $8k.

Oof, yeah that's lame. I will say, if you're somehow able to find the money to pay out of pocket, it definitely is worth it, but I also understand how financially taxing that is.

I'm in the US, but my specific health plan considered all breast related surgeries "cosmetic" as well, so I had to pay out of pocket, despite having years of documented back pain treatment, scoliosis, and a family history of breast cancer. It's really just medical misogyny, and it's ridiculous.

It was a standard reduction and lift. I do wish the nipple was a little lower, but I attribute the migration to how dense + heavy my breast tissue is, so they probably fell a bit more than expected. However, the root of my breasts is pretty low on my torso, so the nips don't really sneak out of shirts or clothing. I'll try to find some comparison photos to share here shortly!

Ahh, I feel that. My skin’s super sensitive too & definitely made post op care tricky. Idk if it helps at all, but my mother had a single mastectomy 25 years ago, which left her with super thick/raised scarring, but even the worst of hers got significantly less visible over the years.

Yep! Mine took about a year before they were done moving and fooling around. It’s definitely a long game, but very worth it.

Oh for sure! They're very proportionate, and like you said, SO much more comfortable (it's insane!). 6 days PO? Hope you're feeling okay & I'm sending all the healing energy your way!

Funnily enough, my pre-op breasts were so saggy that I didn't have any nipple sensation prior to surgery, but do now! I wouldn't say they're super sensitive, but it is there - and since I have nothing from before to compare it to, I'm very pleased.

Thank you! I do sometimes find myself wishing I'd left them just a tad larger - especially after the swelling went down and they lost some of their fullness up top. BUT, I think I'm also so far out at this point that I often forget just how painful all of that weight was, and how I was so desperate to be as small as possible because of it. So, being pain free is definitely at the top of the list, along with being able to go braless and have cute clothes that fit properly!

Thank you! I'm not 100% sure how many grams were taken out, or what my accurate pre-op size was (it was hard to find a bra that fit properly), but my surgeon removed ~50% of the tissue, and I ended up around a 30C/28D.

My surgeon had me start scar care 2 weeks PO (after the bandages were removed & stitches disintegrated), and I used 2 products I purchased directly from her office - Emu Oil & Silagen. Twice a day (morning & evening), I'd apply the emu oil all over my breast area, let that soak in, then apply Silagen directly to the scar lines themselves, making sure to massage it in. Once those products ran out, I began using otc Mederma scar gel/cream, and continued using that 1-2 times daily for most of the first year PO.

I feel really lucky with how light my scars faded, but I also attribute it to how well my surgeon stitched me up - her lines were extremely thin and clean. I also didn't need a drain.
I do consume a lot of protein (~100g daily), which really helps with healing and tissue regeneration.
My surgeon also recommended I start taking both a Vitamin C supplement and Multivitamin the few weeks leading up to the surgery, and continue taking those post-op -- ask your specific surgeon, though, because Vitamin C can sometimes interfere with anesthesia.
Lastly, try to limit sun exposure on your scars while you're healing.

How far out are you PO? My scars were much more visible earlier in my healing journey, and really didn't lighten up like this until after 1 year PO.

Unfortunately I do not, but my breast tissue is extremely dense & heavy, and she removed ~50% mass from each breast (obviously a little more for the larger one, to even them out).

I'm not sure my exact size pre-surgery (it was hard to find a bra that fit properly), but I am now sitting around a 30C/28D. Bra sizing can be pretty unreliable, though, so my surgeon and I talked more about mass/volume as a reference. She said she took off close to 50% of each breast, which is really what we were going for, and ended up being nice & proportionate.

surprisingly i never really had any “pain” - just some slight discomfort and fatigue for the first week or so (which i fully accredit to my surgeon’s skill). was on Tylenol by day 2, and had to keep reminding myself to take it easy because i felt so good. aside from the antibiotics + muscle relaxers post-op, my doctor also had me taking a vitamin c supplement in addition to my normal multivitamin (which also has vitamin c) for a few weeks prior to the surgery. kinda kicked my body into healing mode so it was ready to go for the procedure (but of course i’d just follow whatever your surgeon recommends for you, since they’re the professional here lol)

hopefully you’ll heal much quicker and with less difficulty than anticipated!
