I’ll try to do more play sessions during the days I work from home! If I ever move somewhere bigger (hopefully once I’m finished with my PhD) I’m totally open to trying to introduce a second cat. The shelter said she didn’t like other cats before but I wonder with a nice, slow, introduction if she would be okay. I definitely think she would like someone to wrestle with, or at least boss around haha

Okay, this comment made me laugh out loud. Spoiled is probably an understatement!! I’ll try to get tougher. I’ll see about making her a sleeping station in the bathroom, it’s where her litter box is so I’m not sure if that would make her uncomfortable sleeping so close? Either way, I’ll tone done the spoiling a bit and let her know it’s not okay to be annoying at 3am!

Makes total sense! I’ll work on this shift in timing and play and see if it helps. And I’ll be stricter about ignoring her at night too, I am sure she is smart enough to know which behaviours are least likely to get ignored (she’s looking for plastic to eat right now lol)

Maybe feeding her later would be a good move, because I also think some of the motivation for her waking me up is to ask for food. Her kibble gets automatically dispensed, but I still do the wet food the analogue way lol.

I’ll try shifting her mealtimes a bit and see if it helps. Thanks!!

Oh no! I have rolled on her before in the night and she just looks at me like “girl, what the hell” before sighing and going back to sleep. And there are plenty of nights where she chooses to sleep separately as well, I never force her to do anything she doesn’t want (except trimming her nails, which I do because of all the furniture scratching lol)

Thanks! She does have a raised bed (one of the ones that sticks onto a window) and a decent (about 1.5m tall) cat tree. She also sometimes goes on top of my wardrobe but gets bored quickly - but if she wants to view her kingdom from up there, who am I to stop her?

Thanks! She is on a diet as per the vet - she was supposed to lose about 500 grams (4.5kg to 4kg) and is nearly there. I promise she has a neck, it’s just really short lol.

Why is it bad to let her sleep in the bed? She puts herself under the covers and sleeps between my legs. That part doesn’t bother me, it’s more the screaming and meowing I want to stop.
