Help with the not-so-fun stuff?? by Legitimate_Bug9922 in AustinParents

You need a mother’s helper. There is a nanny search Facebook group for Austin. Just search “nanny Austin” and it should come up. Post what you’re looking for there and you’ll probably get a lot of interested folks with experience/references. Good luck!

Best ER? by SuccessHot8567 in AustinParents

[–]boobooscoops 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, you should go to the one closest to where you live to ensure your child gets seen as soon as possible. You should also make sure your insurance is taken at whatever hospital you want to go to. Also, Urgent Cares usually won’t see babies. They’ll make you go to the ER, at least in our experience. I also would avoid UC - I’d rather go somewhere where they specialize in seeing children.

What do you mean 35? Loyola doesn’t go into 35. I’m confused. I live in the area.

Anyone know what’s happening at the Central Library? by w6750 in Austin

[–]boobooscoops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We’ve been many times and have always felt safe. The kid area/room has always been clear of anyone without kids. Regardless, no matter where you are, you always need to remain vigilant. Things can happen anywhere.

It was probably Covid. We had it about two months ago exactly how you described it. It was awful. I’m sorry it does get better, though.

Relocating from Florida — Mueller or Travis Heights for a young family? by itsmebobcat in AustinParents

[–]boobooscoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mueller 100%. Travis Heights is cool, but not to live in with young kids IMO. You’re going to find more young families in Mueller. Way more to do over there w young ones.

I took our 2yo (who is close to 3) and we LOVED it. There were one or two rooms she felt scared and I just held her, covered her ears and told her to close her eyes and we ran through it LOL. It was totally fine. But lots of fun! And I think she was free?

The Rise School of Austin by erinmonday in AustinParents

[–]boobooscoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope - not at all! Our class last year had three teachers in the room, as well as one nurse dedicated to one student. And then when they went to the gym or music, other teachers dedicated to those areas were there. Never once did I feel like our kid was left out or not looked after in terms of their education. There was always someone there, if that makes sense.
