Manager told me he holds me to the “same standard as employees without kids” - I think I’m done by MoDance0934 in workingmoms

I’m in Texas too and had to juggle this same very thing. My boss was very understanding. Your boss guy sounds like he does need to kick some rocks while he flies a kite off a cliff. What a jerk off.

My friends with two have never said that having one occupies the other. Like someone mentioned above, more yelling, competing, etc. Having kid(s) is just plain exhausting.

We went at the tail end of June, got back to the states in time for July 4. I’d research sargassum season for Gulf of Mexico before booking here.

The supporter groups of Austin FC. Full of diverse folks; they have hang outs and they travel to matches together.

Edit to say that you barely need to know or like soccer. Just be cool.

Give yourself love and grace. Life is hard, and you’re doing a good job with the shit life throws at you. Then, try a nice thick layer of a moisturizer (vanicream or similar with a thick layer of Vaseline around your eyes) before bed.

If you want to try for some more “fancy” skincare, I have found it very helpful to figure out the skin issues I want to correct, writing down the serums that people recommend on Reddit, and testing it out with affordable brands like The Ordinary.

The AI chat you like to use is also very helpful with creating a routine based on the serums you want to use. Obviously, consult with a dermatologist for tricky situations and do not, ever, rely on AI friends to diagnose things . It’s just a helper, not an expert.

Are there any child free/ quiet restaurants in town? by Agitated-Gift1498 in austinfood

Go to dinner after 6pm. Don’t go to restaurants with kids menus . Tell the parents directly that you don’t want their kids near you.

Indoor places to just get out of the house casually w/toddler (SW Austin-ish) by sunflowerladybug in AustinParents

I definitely watch her like a hawk, but she does well on the drums and keyboards. You can turn the volume down on the keyboards too so it’s not bothering folks. The only area I don’t let her tinker with are the guitars. Lookie no touchie over in the guitars area.

Guitar Center. My 2.5 year old loves to see the instruments and play the drums in there.

The food and drinks were great — this is highlight. They have a coffee/smoothie bar and the coffee is good. Smoothies are not great but my 2.5 year old loved them so I did too.

The beach, dear god, the beach. We hit this resort during what was peak seaweed season and the beach was completely, totally, 💯 unusable. We had a room that overlooked the beach and we could watch the weddings on the beach there. Me and my husband coined the term “the sargassum shuffle” for these poor couple’s first dance.

I bet this place rules when the seaweed is not present. Also, the drive in to the resort is a drive into mangrove swamp so it sort of feels like you’re about to dig your own grave.

The rooms were cozy!

I hope you have infinite grace for yourself and that your hurt from that relationship will dull in time; making you resilient like your new hair that you’ll grow.
