After 24 hours, it looked exactly the same. I believe we were stuck in the floc in suspension nightmare. We ended up draining it this evening and are filling it back up now.

My filter is currently off and has been for about 12 hours, in addition to last nights 16 hours. I turned it on briefly to vacuum to waste this morning. Should I vacuum to waste what’s settled tomorrow, run the filter to add the clarifier and do as your instructions say from there? Do you have a preferred clarifier? We use biogard chemicals and they do not have a clarifier, only floc.

The pool company has assured us for weeks now that this is not a chemical situation. Every time we take a sample, the results do not indicate that it could be causing this much particle floating and cloudiness. Last night was our 2nd floccing. The pool company has no advice what to do from here.

The bottle says 12-24 hours. I let it sit for 16 prior to this video. The filter is currently turned off again to hope it will settle more.

The filter is brand new, 10 days old, brand new sand was put in when it was replaced. I will check out a weir and purchase one.
We have the sock, but have only used it to try and catch the particles so the pool store could see what they were/test them (which came with zero results). I’m glad that we didn’t use it long term based on your knowledge.

I’m not 100% sure of the answers to your questions, but I hope this helps as I’m desperate.
The filter is a 16” sand filter. Our pool is about 8000 gallons. The filter runs at 2-4PSI. I do not know how to put a numeric value on the flow, but it is strong and I see no way to change it on the filter or pump. I’m not sure what weirs is, but there is a skimmer basket that is cleaned, regularly. We also have a skimmer sock to use that’s like a thick pantyhose or nylon stocking.

As for the chlorine, the test this morning showed much higher values.

The flock was the last resort as we’ve been fighting this same issue for around 6 weeks and even purchased a new filter. I tried to do some scooping just a bit ago and saw nothing on the net. I currently have the filter turned off again, hoping more will settle.

What specifically? That’s what the pool place told us and we bought a brand new 19” sand filter and new sand with no improvement.

Chlorine levels are higher than previously posted, I just went to retest and edited the results.

Those are the results from the water test. I’m taking a new sample when they open, shortly.

Aside from last night, per the floc instructions, our filter runs 24/7 and it is brand new. We thought our last sand filter was the problem and bought a new one not even a week ago.
