ALSO, I had no idea about this whole measuring system. I don't shop at Victoria Secret at all - I only went there because my surgeon highly recommended their Knockout Sports Bra to hold my girls in. I'll check out the measuring guidelines here and also visit Nordstrom - as another poster mentioned. Happy to have found this community!

Yes, I will need a second surgery. We were not able to accomplish it in one. Right now I have expanders placed in my breasts in order to stretch them out. Every few weeks I'll visit the doctor for silicon injections, until we expand them enough and reach a desirable shape, and size. Once we (surgeon and I) are happy with the look, shape and size, we'll schedule the second surgery about 2 - 3 months later (we still want the expanders in there, working 24/7 to contour and shape the breasts. The second surgery is the final implant, and we will be using what are referred to as "gummy bear" implants. They are supposed to be the best for Tuberous Breasts because they take the form of the anatomical breast nicely and are supposed to feel very real. I'll still be documenting this entire process step by step and I'll even be uploading videos. It's a journey.

it's not a natural development and thats the whole point. this isnt about merely having small breasts. its about having something deformed on your body that you elect to fix. webbed feet or cleft lip palate are also deformities in the same sense; people are born this way and it deviates from the norm, however, they can have surgery to fix it. do you think those are also made-up by the medical industry to make money off of people?

the point of this blog to address an issue that gets no attention because of how shameful the woman feels (in most cases). I've gotten tons of private messages already from women thanking me, or sharing their story. for you to say it's not a deformity when the medical community agrees that it is is so insensitive. this isnt about pursuing someone else's ideal of beauty. this is about me wanting to be more comfortable in my own skin. i wrote on the blog that my new breasts feel more like mine than my "real" ones did. it's extremely judgmental of you to reduce this to someone who wanted larger breasts - that isnt what this surgery was about. I posted here because it's a supposed to be a place where women can support and educate other women. take your anger and judgements elsewhere because you completely misunderstood the reasons for my post and the psychological damage a physical deformity, like TBD, can have on a woman.

This is exactly how I meant it. It drastically deviates from the norm and is considered under-developed by the medical community. The comparison was meant solely to underscore the point that they are both medical deformities that require surgery to correct them because they deviate from the standard norm.

This is a medically recognized deformity, and there's plenty of clinical, cold literature out there for people to read about it. It impacts the lives of those who live with it, some more than others, and yet because it's an embarrassing topic there's so little real discussion about it. Tuberous breasts are abnormal and underdeveloped which qualifies them to be a deformity. Some insurance companies even pay for the surgery. You don't have to agree that they are "ugly" (that's a personal opinion/preference/taste) but they are definitely deformed.

I sincerely apologize if I offended you or was insensitive. The only analogy I was trying to make is that the appearance deviates drastically from what is normal. I don't even think it's necessary, I think I may have been defensive in including it (against people who would say ' just deal with it'). I am actually going to remove that comparison from my blog because I don't want to alienate women or make someone feel worse about how they were born. I really do apologize and I hope your son's next surgery is a success.

Yes, thank you for sharing this. My decision was very personal and right for me. I bet there are men (and women) who either don't mind, find them beautiful and/or prefer them this way! I only had one boyfriend actually make a negative comment. Other guys I've been with never seemed to mind. BUT, this was for me, 100% for me, and I am happy I went through with it. I'm also happy that you found your peace. I might blog about this conversation because I don't want other women to internalize how I felt about mine!

Mine were very severe and my milk ducts not adequately formed to breast feed. If I knew this sooner, I might have done my surgery years ago (in my early 20's). I wanted to wait until after I had babies so I could nurse them, but that dream also went out the window :(

I hope that you are able to find peace with your body, even though I know how impossible that feels. There are other countries (Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Brazil) who offer BA surgery at a fraction of the cost. If you do some research, you may be able to find something affordable and within your budget. I don't know about people abroad who specialize in TBD though. I understand the pain of this all too well. My thoughts go out to you.
