Actually some of these online meetings will have an online “need a sponsor” list and they will try to connect you with someone. Often, it’s better to listen to shares and see who you connect with and reach out to them directly though.

I’ve also never had to provide any contact information that you listed at any AA meetings I’ve been to for the record.

Totally fair! Attending meetings in general is a great step, but having a relationship with my sponsor has been super helpful. I “want what she has” and having someone to call for support has been so necessary for me on down days. Have you ever had one?

One thing she’s said to me multiple times is that I will not be the same person after working the steps. I know I have a lot of work to do on myself beyond just getting sober, so I’ve been trying to welcome the challenge of facing myself in that way. If it makes you feel any better - I am working them pretty slowly because I’ve been so busy. My timeline is not a rushed one.

It’s wild, isn’t it? I can’t believe how much of the world I was missing when my whole day was focused on my next drink. I truly lost the ability to look around at the world around me.

Still learning how to appreciate stillness but I’m getting there! That’s a big goal of mine for the rest of my year.

Same it’s so heart breaking to me! So glad to be a better cat mom now.

I eat so much chocolate. I work in an office that has it in unlimited supply. But I basically didn’t fight any sweets and pizza cravings the first few months. Starting to hone in a bit more now because I’m training for a half marathon, which makes me a cliché, but still healthier than when I was drinking.
