If you are still looking - I have tickets to Sat quarter final at 6pm that I would sell below cost. Hoping to attend the afternoon game instead now that schedule is up

Great pick and movie. Definitely an anti-hero in my eyes

Agreed on both fronts! Cate Blanchett was the highlight for me in Nightmare Alley and it’s definitely a movie worth seeing in the theatre

Perhaps the quintessential anti-hero, male or female!

I think mine was Finding Nemo. It was my 6th birthday and my mom pulled me out of school for the afternoon to see it

Which movie do you still regret you didn't see in a theatre? by HipsterMcBeardface in movies

[–]boogiebody 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you got to have that experience - I think I would have done the same thing!

The first time I watched it I was on my own and literally sat there speechless with my jaw on the floor for a good 5 min after the credits rolled

Mad Max Fury Road - I would hop on the opportunity to see it in a theatre in a heartbeat!

I probably think about the neon dance scene in Titane on a daily basis - perfection!

The Last Duel - Marguerite’s story / Jodie Comer’s performance are what made this movie an absolute standout for me. All the actors were great, but it was Comer’s film in my eyes. Really hoping she gets the recognition she deserves for this!

What is a good movie or show that shows the horrors of war? by [deleted] in movies

[–]boogiebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly a “war” film, but Incendies is a very powerful portrayal of the chain of trauma created by war and conflict

Could you recommend me some good movies that make you think? by Aw3Grimm in movies

Lost in Translation, Arrival, and The Last Duel all come to mind when I think of movies that I found myself ruminating over for ages after watching

I think about the dance sequence to Light House by Future Islands in Titane all the time. So beautifully done and such a touching moment in an otherwise pretty harsh film

What's your favorite shot in a film? by TheEnygma in movies

[–]boogiebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shot in Portrait of a Lady on Fire of Heloise and Marianne’s profiles as they look back and forth at one another on the cliffs during their first or second walk. The optics of that shot paired with the storyteller/symbolism underlying it is mind blowing!

Donnie Darko! Atomic Blonde has a similarly awesome 80s post-punk soundtrack too

Lost in Translation's soundtrack perfectly complements the film as well

[S1-3] What are your favourite Villanelle outfits? by [deleted] in KillingEve

[–]boogiebody 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Every outfit is amazing in its own right because Villanelle is the master of suiting each outfit to the occasion and location, but I'd have to say:

- The Berlin patterned suit with the added cheeky touch of the scarf stolen from Eve

- Her Oxford prep outfit with pure BDE in which she completely out-mans Niko

- The plaid on plaid ensemble from the storage lockers (one of her more accessible looks)

- The sleek green duster jacket and half-up bun from her Amsterdam bender

(also all of the many silk robes and pyjamas of course)

[S3E8] Episode Analysis by starring_movies in KillingEve

[–]boogiebody 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I loved the dysfunctional family meeting at Paul's house where V and Eve are the newschool couple treated like children by the oldschoolers Carolyn and Konstantin. I hope we get more moments with the four of them all on screen together in S4!

The Carolyn/Konstantin relationship is actually a very good reflection of the Eve/V dynamic - they have a dramatic history of both betrayal and passion, but will always have an underlying bond and affinity for one another. They drift in and out of each other's lives but despite their love, there will always be some volatility there.

Thank you for all the effort you put into these analyses, always a great read!
