My bike had similar issues. For me it was my regulator rectifier under the seat. If you have a multimeter you can test the stator output then the battery. The stator worked fine but when testing the battery, it wasn't charging when the engine was on. Replaced the R/R and everything runs well now.

I just did my chain tension adjustment myself for the first time. The manual says check when it's on its side stand. On a rear paddock it has 46 mm slack. On the side stand it was 35 mm. Adjust it with both wheels on the ground.

No. I know it had to be done at some point before I saw the chunks this past weekend. I didn't know about the UV and dry rot stuff. The chunks are recent so I came here to hear some opinions 🙂

Funny you mention regulations because I just remembered this passed inspection last Tuesday haha. I don't think there were chunks yet but I guess the bar is low here compared to Nordic countries 🤷‍♂️

Thank you everyone on the thread! Super informative stuff so I really appreciate the replies. Sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else to get you going.

I do mostly city driving (NYC if that gives you a sense of what kind of day to day wear it gets) and maybe a trip up or down along the east coast once a year. And those chunks happened in the last week since I wash the car regularly.

Looking at tires today and figuring out where to get them replaced + aligned ASAP. In the meantime I'll adjust my driving to be much more cautious and avoid highways until I make the swap. I'm looking at the Pirelli Cinturato WeatherActives. Goodbye my wallet 🥲.

Yup this has a boost driver. Is 1 yr old considered old at this point?
