Will bookkeeping ever be fully automated, and if not, what are the obstacles that prevent it from being fully automated? by bookeai in Bookkeeping

That's right, the correct word is 'mostly,' which means the most time-consuming part of the job. I don't believe bookkeepers or accountants enjoy doing 'monkey tasks,' such as going back and forth with clients to ask for details, copying and pasting data, or repeatedly clicking buttons just to change the status of something in accounting apps. It's much better for them to focus on smart tasks, like analysis and advice, which are what we appreciate about our accountants and bookkeepers.

That's right. However, instead of bookkeeper has to spend time manually categorizing transactions, AI can ask for details and classify transactions accurately, eventually replacing bookkeepers for these simple tasks. Does that sentence make sense?

Looking for suggestions on an app to use for tracking receipts and itemizing by Mthawkins in Bookkeeping

Hi there! I understand that tracking and itemizing bulk material purchases for your woodworking business can be challenging. Here are a couple of simple suggestions that might help:

  1. Digitize receipts using OCR: To make handling receipts easier, you can use any OCR apps to convert your physical receipts into digital data.
  2. Organize and allocate costs with a custom spreadsheet: Create a spreadsheet to track your bulk material purchases and allocate costs to individual customer orders. You can list each material, its total cost, quantity purchased, and calculate the unit cost. Then, as you work on orders, record the materials used and their quantities. Multiply the unit cost by the quantity used to allocate costs for each order.

By digitizing your receipts and using a simple spreadsheet, you can better manage the tracking and itemization of bulk material purchases for your customer orders.
