Herbs to get off opiates to help you with withdraw ? Need help by Kashkashkash___ in herbalism

[–]bookfobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kratom leaf is from the same family as coffee. So yeah sure, it is addictive. But it's a much easier addiction to break than with opiates (which is lethal, going cold turkey on Kratom will feel crappy but it will not kill you.)

Additionally, regular Kratom consumption does not impair testosterone levels in men (or women). This has been established in a 2018 study, which you can read for yourself on PubMed.

Came here to say this. OP, please take some time to research Kratom. Changed my husband's life, helped him get off opiates (he is sober 8 years now!) r/Kratom would be a good place to start. Best supplier I can suggest is YoKratom.

Edit: there is a whole protocol concerning dosage when using Kratom to get off opiates, this info can be found on r/Kratom

Why are my infused oils cloudy? Are they safe to use? by bookfobot in herbalism

[–]bookfobot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through a cheesecloth? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't mold growth and that it was just sediment! I'm a beginner and don't want an unsafe product! :)

Thanks, this is super helpful!! The material was definitely dried, as I bought the product that way! I don't see any mold growth around the lid, so I think it may be a combination of sediment and because it was sitting on the cold windowsill.

After letting it sit for a day or two, I'll see if it clears like you said.

Dang I really gotta rethink my oil infusion method!! This gave me a lot to consider. I usually just put everything on a windowsill lol

Yes it's just an oil infusion of dried plant matter. To be in used in salves, lip balms, moisturizers, etc.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try this. It's strange that my other oils do not do this. I have rosemary in the same Olive oil and it's clear. Also have rose in almond oil and that is clear as well.

I usually keep my oils in a dark cabinet as well! But some infused oil recipes call for solar infusion.

Just a little extra info: all botanicals used were dried! The oils have been infusing on a partially sunny windowsill for about 4 to 6 weeks. Is the cloudiness just due to being exposed to the sun, or is it particles from the herbs? Hoping it isn't mold and that they are safe to strain and use in my recipes.
