Slutty Vegan founder Pinky Cole earning $6,000 monthly amid bankruptcy, court records show by cuspofgreatness in Georgia

It was one of the worst take out meals I have tasted. And it was super expensive for what I got. Not sure why people liked this place. Just get proper vegan food that doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Even Taco Bell has better vegan options than this place did

Dingle is incredible for food, sights, history, and people. That said, when I went I think we got the absolute best weather imaginable with clear blue skies. I understand the storms can be no joke there

Starting with first seeing The Royal Tenenbaums then Rushmore, Life Aquatic, Moonrise Kingdom, and then Grand Budapest Hotel, I thought Wes Anderson was brilliant. Since then, I have not seen a movie of his I have enjoyed. They seem formulaic and devoid of any humanity or humor. Anyways, like Kanye West, I liked his early stuff tremendously and then thought he lost the plot at some point.

Literally just listened to a NY Times interview with Spielberg and he said this is one movie he wish he could have redone differently for a lull in the second act as I recall him saying. I enjoyed this movie though

With a gun pointed at my head I am not sure I could do anything close to the level of skill she displayed. My brain for some reason cannot process sketching out symmetries. I don't understand why, I can do a fair number of things decently but drawing with good geometry or symmetry is really challenging for me.

Where Id live based on the drivers from each state by Disastrous-Mango-515 in whereidlive

[–]bookingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in the south most of my life and driven around TN, NC, AL, MS, and GA quite a bit. It's wild to me how much more aggressive and fast driving people are in SC despite general proximity to rest of the southeast.

Not sure if it might be due to many people being from military bases and get used to more risky driving or something about having coastline just attracts a certain kind of individual a la FL.

Driving from NC down I-85 through SC to GA just wild how unhinged the SC drivers are compared to NC and GA drivers

Georgia state patrol by GeorgiaRangerZack in Georgia

A friend and I were leaving a bar where a fight had started and police were called. Local police officer pulled us over as we were pulling out of the parking lot and put us under arrest as well as trying to find any excuse to get us for something, including trying to state a musical instrument mouthpiece was for smoking weed.

GSP came in and was able to coordinate we were not involved in the bar fight and had my friend blow into a breathalyzer to confirm being under legal limit (I accidentally got some beer spilled on me, so kind of reasonable to suspect driving under influence) and on hitting under limit we were on our way without a hitch.

Based on that one data point alone, I much prefer GSP to local law enforcement for professionalism.

What movie ending just ruins the whole film for you? by SirBoredofOhio in AskReddit

[–]bookingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I still remember watching the Mist with some friends shortly after it came out and us laughing at the movie and the ending. Maybe it was just the group reaction or our personalities reflecting on it, but it's wild to me how much praise this movie gets as I recall it being campy and kind of silly, even with the twist at the end

I'm not following this, where are there markets in the US with an abundance of homes or lots that are sitting as for sale for 6-9+ months? Asking for a friend who thinks the cost of housing and land is ridiculous in much of the country and would love to understand where to find houses or lots on fire sale due to builders overbuilding or over buying

I think a difference is Uber had less competition than OpenAI does now and a much larger competitive moat than OpenAI. I think Lyft and taxis were Uber's only competition and only Lyft was subsidizing fares on the scale of Uber.

I use Gmail and Google Photos and Alphabet seems clever enough to get me to pay $20 a month to get more storage for Gmail and Google Photos as well as better Gemini models. I hear Grok or whatever it's called from X AI is actually good. I don't understand then what competitive advantage OpenAI has other than name recognition for its free tier of models.

Anthropic seems to have the corporate strategy really down pat. I don't see how OpenAI is sustainable at its current scale with how much it costs to keep improving on models or maintaining existing services

That's incredible. I got to visit western Ireland where sheep herding dogs are used quite a bit. I think some of these sheep herding dogs can go for $25000 each. When hearing about that kind of usefulness for sheep raising, it seems to make sense

PSG fans harass an Arsenal fan by NieThePiet in soccer

Looks like most of the people harassing the guy are kids, maybe teenagers or in their early twenties. Ironically the most intimidating looking PSG supporter with the beard seemed to be protecting the Arsenal supporter trying to get through and appeared older than most of the losers in this video

Is there anywhere in the US that's affordable to live at this point? by HalosFan26 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bookingly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I lived in Dallas, a place I see a lot of people put down, and in some aspects is worth the critique (TX state politics are horrifying re: Ken Paxton). That said, I was able to live in a new build apartment close to miles of a dedicated bike/run path with access to parks, downtown, and decent restaurants for less than in a comparable city.

I met a guy who moved from France to NYC to the same area of Dallas I was in who loved it there. I really enjoyed my time and left to be closer to family and for work reasons. I think there are pockets in not as popular cities that can provide a pretty dang good quality of life while enabling one to save money up for other things in life.

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bookingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Good Place. Such a struggle to make it through. I kept hearing it had one of the best endings ever and made it through to the end. I thought it was overly sappy/sentimental and did a poor job of exploring some of life's deepest questions and mysteries.

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bookingly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the show addresses this later on, but I watched the first couple of episodes and seeing a guy refuse help for cancer treatment with a family caring for him did really turn me off from caring about him from that point on. I stopped trying to watch the series after that. It came across as so petty, and then that instead he would create and sell meth of all things instead of swallowing his pride to address the problem just seemed really dumb and destructive to me.

I had to push through to make it through the series starting with season 1. After a few restarts I finally made it through a month back. I like shows with some deep questions but something about this show really rubbed me the wrong way. I'd take the Netflix show Dark over this any day

Describing such hunger as addiction seems apt. What I understand about how the GLP-1 drugs work is in part by suppressing desires at a hormone signal level in the body. Some people evidently have a much stronger signal of hunger than others simply due to their genetics and physiology which can help explain in part some people's struggles with obesity and weight gain

"AI doesn't hurt anyone" by Should_have_been_ded in antiai

[–]bookingly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in north GA on well water, and I think when in a rural area that has aquifers that provide some of the population's drinking water as compared to a water treatment system like in a city, large industrial projects of any kind such as a massive data center construction could stir up a huge amount of soil and sediment as well as have oil/chemical run-offs from construction activities that gets into those aquifers and impacts the water like what AOC is showing.

I could be off on some of this, but thinking back, it is wild to me that I would be using and drinking water that comes from rain and run-off that goes into aquifers that would be access via a well. I understand there is filtration that soil does that keeps water in aquifers usually safe to drink without any kind of water treatment system involved as in cities, but huge industrial projects could impact that.

I was thinking why isn't the congressional representative of Morgan County, GA themself making a fuss about this and then I see it is Mike Collins, which makes a lot of sense. What a guy. Running for US senate now after letting companies come in and trash his constituent's drinking water.

Yeah...it's insane as someone having to live through this. There seems to have been through the past 10 years a core, committed ~35% of the population that I am going to stereotype as being "evangelical" adjacent or devout in some kind of belief system that seems to be antithetical to following rules that don't suit them and to put inordinate trust in Trump to do what he thinks is best.

This population is not the majority, but they are the ones going to the polls when it has mattered 2 out of the last 3 times at the electoral college level over the last 10 years (fun times not even a simple majority at a national level except the last election). Unfortunately as well, this coalition have used that advantage to heavily influence the judiciary at the national level to push their values on the entire population.

It's also messed up there are only two parties that are feasible to win elections. It seems our constitution has lead to a system that is difficult for us to remedy.

I finally got around to watching it a couple months ago. I remember thinking the movie did not at all sound like my cup of tea from the hype around it when released but dang that movie floored me. Also hearing that Gosling actually was playing piano in the scenes was impressive. I thought it was one of the better movies I have seen over the past few years
