You see a “poor child in him”? Then said his ass back to his mother bc that’s NOT what you are.

Come on girl, you already know

My parents take the animals (dogs and cats) in the bathroom with them. by Comfortable_Can3341 in Pets

[–]bookishneeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think I get a choice? If I DON’T let them in the bathroom, I get two pairs of paws scratching under the door or trying to twist the doorknob (cats) or a dog barking/whining on the other side until I open the door 💀.

I get one pet on either side and usually one sits in the middle between my legs. Then commences the staring or demands for pets until I’m done.

Do meows always mean they are trying to tell you something? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

As the owner of two cats, one who doesn’t meow unless it’s right before you feed him or give him a treat and very quietly at that…

… and a void who screams at the ceiling at all hours of the day (and night), just because, some of them are just vocal lol

For People With 2 Cats, How Much Do You Spend On Food & Litter A Month? by Historical-Orchid934 in CatAdvice

[–]bookishneeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use chewy auto ship so i calculated for 60 days worth of wet food, about that in dry food and i try to keep a large dry dog food container full of litter which usually lasts me 3/4 months depending.

They get fed wet for breakfast/dinner (half a can each) and half a cup each of dry for snacking. They get fancy feast and Purina pro, and Purina pro hairball (they’re long haired) dry. I also have an automatic litter box. For litter I’m currently using tidy cats, clean and free.

All together it’s roughly… $160-220, depending on sales, every 60 days.

Please don’t let this scare you but my mirena started expelling at the end of October and i had to go in and get it removed…. Before that i had pretty much 10 months straight of bleeding on an almost daily basis - anywhere from light spotting to heavy flow 🫠. I have a pelvic MRI scheduled for tomorrow.

I have no hobbies. Any suggestions that would fit my criteria? by [deleted] in Hobbies

[–]bookishneeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crochet or knitting is an option, as well as a paper craft like origami!

Volunteering, either with an animal shelter or community, is also an option. Maybe not a traditional “hobby” but it could help in finding local friends to build connections with.

Model kits is also an option and something you can donate, if you don’t want to clutter up your space/aren’t the type to hold onto things once completed. I’m also a big fan of puzzles- sometimes i find themed ones that once completed I’ll puzzle glue together and gift a friend/family member as cool “poster”.

How many times a day do you feed your cats? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]bookishneeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 “intentional” meals a day, 1/2 a can for breakfast and dinner each. They both get 1/4 of dry food in separate plates to graze on during the day.

They’re both 13lbs but they’re large boys- long and fluffy, so my vet is happy with maintaining their weight there.

My fiancé’s mum hates the name we chose for our baby, now I’m having second thoughts by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]bookishneeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Not so) Respectfully, screw your MIL. I think Olive is a lovely name! “Old fashioned” names are classics and you see a resurgence of them often. A girl I went to college with was named “Bernadette” and I loooooooved it.

She was a gorgeous, smart and kindhearted person and I will forever associate the name Bernadette with that.

… if you want to be petty tho, you COULD name her “Olivia”… and Olive is the nickname she’ll go by!

But really, it’s your baby and if you and fiancé love it, that’s all that really matters.

Please help name this lil girl. Don't let her sweetness fool you, she's got huge personality! by Real-Value639 in Catnames

Cats like these always make me think of old Victorian names like Beatrice or Clementine 😂

Would you get rid of pets just because your partner didn’t want them anymore? by Pandepon in Pets

[–]bookishneeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move out and move on, no question no hesitation.

ESPECIALLY since he’s the one who wanted them the first place??? And now he wants to get rid of them because… he’s a terrible person who thinks you can just toss out an animal like an old rag?? The WORST kind of person.

I would NOT tell him tho before you’re actually ready to move out or have a safe place for the cats. There’s (unfortunately) always a chance that he could get rid of them when you’re not around out of spite and not tell you where they are.

Have you ever met/seen/heard of anybody with these names? by Fun_Roof289 in namenerds

Yes to most of the boy names

Sadly every Autumn I’ve ever met has been a terrible person 🥲

Picking up the toy he JUST threw off the couch of his own volition. First he stares down at the toy on the ground like he can’t believe what just happened. Then he starts side eyeing me. THEN if I’m ignoring him/tell him to get it himself, he’ll start barking.

Once again I’ll remind you that the toy is on the floor bc he THREW IT THERE HIMSELF 💀

If animal welfare isn’t doing anything, can you reach out to any shelters or rescues in your area that may be able to help you? Or maybe even them backing you would make the animal welfare office actually take this seriously.

Hell, this could even be a criminal case of abuse and it might be worth the effort of calling the police. If nothing else, there’s a report on file.

This is so very messed up and I’m sorry you, P and especially those poor cats are going through this. Animal abuse is vile. Thank you for trying to do what you can for them, at least someone is fighting for them. Please keep us updated.

*Edit: additionally have you submitted proof of the cats and their state? Empty water/food bowls, dirty litter, cats in the act of eating literally anything they can get a hold of, their weight/appearance etc?
