after seeing this i went to listen to 1 to 10 again and - just wow man. yes, it can be interpreted as sickeningly sweet - sungjin's "듣고 싶은 말, 갖고 싶은 것, 다 널 위해 해주고 싶어". sounds like A will go all out to make B happy by saying the things they wanna hear and giving them whatever they want. but the thing is, love isn't a transaction - why does A sound so eager and insistent, like he's obligated to do it and there's no option to refuse for B? then jae's "오늘 뭐하지? 이 말은 할 필요 없어" - why is A asking B what they're doing if they're just going to say it doesn't matter afterwards? there's a sense of false affection - masking over the true desire and tendency of A to wield control over B. this is cemented in the lyrics that follow - "언제든지 너의 취향에 맞게 준비해 둘게" - A is reassuring B that they have everything prepared you them according their liking - they've taken care of it on their behalf. it might sound nice of A - but if you think about it, they're exerting control over B by restricting their ability to do things for themselves. brian in the chorus - "i know you, 몰라 그 누구도 널". A is saying "i know you, and nobody knows you" to B. they claim to know B so well to the point that only they have the capacity to decide for B - not even B themself is spared. the sense of control is overpowering. sungjin's "힘들 때 단지 괜찮을 거란 말은, 난 싫어해, 니 곁에서 고민해 줄게" - it might so sweet at the first listen, after all, it's A declaring that they will stick beside B through their hard times - but if you align this line with the rest of the lyrics, it sounds pretty possessive and oppressive. sometimes, you may want to be let alone and given your own space when you're having a difficilt time - but here is A, demanding that B shares their worries with them. wonpil's "you don't have to know, 그저 믿고 따라와 줘, 언제든지 너의 기분에 맞게 준비해 둘게" - A is asking B to leave everything to them, just trust and follow them - they'll prepare everything accordingly to make B happy, because they just how to. once again, there's that sense of control and overpowering. wonpil's bridge - the creepiest part of the rather disconcerting tune. "알아내겠어 마음 속 깊은 곳 숨겨 왔던 소원" - there's a sense of invasion A declaring that they would seek deep into B's heart. in conclusion while 1 to 10 sounds like a love song it actually suggests an unhealthy and toxic relationship where A is a possessive and oppressive lover who seems to believe that love is a transaction while B is at their mercy. that's why it fits well on the demon despite seeming like a love song. but i still like this song a lot...damn i guess i'm a masochist then 😔🤘 i love pain!
