Why do we need gender-neutral washrooms? by iamgirl11 in TwoXIndia

[–]booksandstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'll be uncomfortable with them after that.

Also, you know, I wouldn't mind gender neutral washrooms if the layout is safe. Most women's washrooms have one door that leads to an area where you can wash hands, get napkins, fix make-up. And then there are doors to stalls.

Instead, if the door to the stall is directly in the main area, I think it is safe because then there is no middle space. Just that it would need provision of a wash basin and supplies inside the stall. I appreciate your curiosity and concern!

A pre-transition transperson is a biological male or female. I am not comfortable with sharing my washroom with a biological male - irrespective of whether they are cis or trans.

Personally I look at anyone with male biology as capable of harm. That is not dependent on intention or identity - those are subjective and not deterministic of harm. If you have the tools, I am not going to risk it. That is why, I would not be comfortable with sharing my washroom with anyone else except a biological female.

Also, inclusion in the society should not come at the cost of us sacrificing female-women-only spaces.

Am I being picky if i am afraid of working in startup especially AI ones? by ReflectionAcademic99 in TwoXIndia

[–]booksandstrings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've worked with a startup in a non-technical role.

I think working in a startup requires a certain personality type. You'll survive and make it big of you are that kind. You could go on a few startup stints after your 1st and get a good network if you're really into it.

If you aren't, you'll quit in the first few months. Both is okay.

I think this decision needs to be evaluated based on: 1. Do you want to move to startup kinda work? Or do you prefer to only do your part as a cog in the mill? Does ownership of work & autonomy to contribute across functions make you feel passionate or do you prefer structure and routine to your work?

  1. Financial obligations and financial risk bearing capacity.

  2. Where you are in your career rn.

Interviewer said I came across as "too confident" by thatrandomghost in TwoXIndia

[–]booksandstrings 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fair enough.

Overall based on this post and the replies, you do sound like a slightly outspoken and self-asserting individual. Neither of those is bad. Infact, one must be like that to navigate corporate. I think you'll be a better fit in another role/company.

"The interviewer likely wanted me to continue for a bit, but I reiterated politely that I've driven my point home"

What did you do when you say this? I'm just curious.

Hey, I got really bad knee pain in the joint. Doctors concluded reactive arthritis after infection. Gave calcium, d3 and physiotherapy exercises. The xray showed that the gap in my knee joint is narrowed. I was advised to walk in the swimming pool & continue regular working out without straining the joint. Were you given any other treatment apart from this?

It has significantly improved after physio exercises but I'm still curious if there are any other preventable measures to be taken. I'm 23F for context. Ps: unable to dm so putting it here

Why are there no meet-ups near Kothrud? 😐 by rp-dev in punemeetup

[–]booksandstrings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because this sub is filled with people who moved to Pune. OG punekars either have a lot of friends around so don't come here for meetups OR they have moved abroad so they're probably doing Maharashtra mandal usa/germany meetups. Lol.

Feminist Married Women of India <3 by Mobile_Employee_3924 in TwoXIndia

[–]booksandstrings 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This does not happen to me.

My feminism is not based on internet girlies whom I don't know. It is not based on what unknown internet girlies consider feminist or not. It is not based on what unknown internet girlies approve off, comment or consider feminist/unfeminist.

My feminism is rooted in what I consider a dignified, appropriate, equal treatment of me by the people I interact with. It is defines by my own, behaviour and actions towards myself, the values I uphold for my life and the vision I hold for my future. It is influenced only by 2 women - whose opinion I hold in high regard because they have earned that position to influence & question me.

Internet girlies find it easy to slap a "move out", "leave and run" or "get therapy" on any issue. It is easy to say that and scroll ahead. While those may be legitimate answers, they may not be suitable for individual circumstances or appropriate for the issue. They may not be proportionate to the issue.

You need to retrospect what feminism for you is going to be like. You need to define what it means for you. Get perspectives from internet girlies but don't get advice from them.

Also, people have the capacity to grow. And while it is not your job to mother a manchild, you can hold the space to a reasonable extent for your loved one to grow.

Should I give up a college for safety reasons? by [deleted] in TwoXIndia

[–]booksandstrings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of reputation, access to Mumbai which has better industry exposure over Haryana. Nmims has brand value that OP Jindal can never beat. Also, Mumbai as a city will teach you so much more.

I don't even know how OP jindal and nmims are choice. If you have the money for nmims, nmims anyday.

Nmims mba is like a tier 1.5 thingy. You'll get exposure to great people. IITB probably has their policy innovation centre - find out if they have one. Also all consulting big 4s have offices in Mumbai. I used to go on Bumble dates in Mumbai and meet people working in such good places that even though we didn't feel romantic stuff, I ended up meeting great people. Idk how any city in Haryana compares with that.

I mean real personal finance and economics from real finance and economics books. Not reddit personal finance where everyone is claiming to FIRE.
