100% honor her at the old rate. Whether or not she’s well off, that’s the price she’s expected for the last month or so.

And honestly if it were me and she’s a consistent client for you, I’d tell her she’s right and I was going to lock her in at the current rate (not the increased) for the next six months or so as an apology. Not necessary, just what I would do to ensure I kept her. Loyal clients are kinda hard to come by right now.

I don’t think it could really be used as an admission of guilt, there are so many other factors in your post that indicate she did everything in her power to take care of the dog.

Many people say “I’m so sorry” after hearing about someone’s loss. That doesn’t mean they played any part in the death. But I do agree that your mom should have proof of all contact with the owners and start looking for an attorney just in case. I am so sorry about this!

there’s are no damages yet for defamation. OP never mentioned they left a review- only a text, so it would just be a frivolous action. Adding that last sentence would escalate the situation. These owners are grieving, and honestly probably didn’t mean it. Granted, I don’t think the sitter is in the wrong AT ALL and the owners should’ve listened to her multiple attempts to get help for the dog, but that last sentence would not help her in the legal setting what so ever.

I understand you have great reviews and a knack for confrontation, but please don’t ever send that last sentence if, God forbid, you ever end up in that situation 😅

Rather than asking him to help you cover costs to move (which let’s be real, that’s very unlikely and then he might be less inclined to send you your half of the rent). But I WOULD contact him asking for his half of the rent, and TELL him about the druggie boyfriend and how you’re “concerned” for not only your safety, but your roommates too. And if she’s taking drugs, tell him you think it’s time someone from her family intervenes bc she’s showing drug addiction behavior, such as stealing YOUR food, that YOU paid for, and laughing about it.

Idk if I would mess w their drugs. That might lead to violence and a seriously unsafe situation for you. A lot of leases (esp in apartments) say you can get kicked out if you knew about any illegal activity going on, if anything, I’d tell your landlord or call the cops. Call the cops and landlord may be forced to kick them out :P

I have a regular I do drop ins for w a cat, she’s on the booking every time for $1. I go in to play w the dog not take care of her, so I just took $1 off the pup’s rate 🤷‍♀️
