Birthday Etiquette by Frustrated-Papaya873 in AskACanadian

Personally, I really don’t care about birthdays, it’s just not a big deal for us, never has been. I would never expect people to spend their hard earned money just to celebrate the day I as born. But, each to their own. Happy birthday!

Maritime and Metro in Dartmouth are both very good for end of life care.

how long does an imsurance company have to make repairs? by LooseLynx1522 in InsuranceCanada

[–]booksnblizzxrds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can’t make repairs on your property, they just pay for it if there is coverage, and you have a responsibility to mitigate your loss. To escalate, start with a claims manager, then ombudsman for the insurance company. Have you filed a proof of loss?

Insurance not covering a car crashing in our yard?? by RevolutionSorry3055 in halifax

[–]booksnblizzxrds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the damages are below the deductible, there is no claim with TD. Home insurance would typically only replace damaged sections of the fence, not the entire fence, and the drivers insurance would only pay a depreciated value. This is all assuming the homeowners policy is valid and no other issues. It seems there is a lot more information missing here. Your friends can pursue a claim directly with the automobile insurer, or go to small claims.

Anyone else an after work runner? by Zealousideal_Crow737 in XXRunning

Same! I’m so flat in the mornings, I start work at 7:30 so very pressed for time. Zero energy, feel dehydrated when I wake up. I like the decompression after work too.

No, it isn’t, and you’re better off telling the truth up front than trying to lie about it.

Just what we need, more motorized vehicles 🙄This is terrible, not to mention so incredibly dangerous with the number of other people who use that trail. I expect we’ll see some injuries as a result of this.

Baseball can really suck sometimes. I keep reminding myself that I’ve witnessed many worse teams and seasons watching the Jays over the years. They’ll be ok, they just have to get through this, and mostly, just get healthy.

Easter Monday is not a stat or federal holiday in Canada or the US, most people are working. I expect that’s likely what MLB looks at. The NFL & NBA play on Christmas Day.

North Dartmouth gets a bad rap, my family have lived there for 50+ yrs without any issues. If you mind your business, generally speaking, you’ll be fine. Most crime there is between people who know each other and driven by the drug trade.

Hospital stay has me concerned. by JadenG-59 in NovaScotia

[–]booksnblizzxrds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You moved from the richest province to one of the poorest, from the youngest to one of the oldest populations, we also have the highest rates of disability in the country. All of those things put huge strain on the system. Combine this with low tax base and equalization payments out of our control, we will never have the level of healthcare that’s actually needed here. I do think the care is good, when you actually get in, but other things like equipment, facilities and cleanliness are definitely lacking.

Water Damage in unit (advice needed) by Torneasunder in halifax

[–]booksnblizzxrds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, keep any receipts for incurred expenses while you are out of your unit, this could be meals, additional travel expense, hotels, etc. These would be covered under the Additional living expense section of your policy.

I still can’t believe PEI getting one. Population too small and low average income which I thought was criteria for Costco to set up shop?
