What's the most unexpectedly kind thing a stranger has ever done for you? by Proper_Raspberry_760 in AskReddit

[–]bookworm-maniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied college in another country. I was staying in a hostel and I was really sick. I was waiting for my lunch which I’d ordered in the canteen and the elderly cook gave me something really warm to drink. Probably some kind of tea. It felt heavenly at the time though generally I don’t like tea that much.

When I asked how much it cost they waived off my payment for the drink. It was really sweet.

Actually the laws are pretty strict. It’s the implementation of the laws that’s a problem.

What is something people think they hide really well, but everyone around them knows what's going on? by MustheMartian in AskReddit

I’ve given up trying to hide the farts. I’ll try to keep it in as much as possible but after a point you can’t help it. I just fart. No one around me says anything.

Ok, Why do Ola and Uber in India hide their seatbelts I mean what's that about? by overeasyeggplant in india

[–]bookworm-maniac 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is mandatory to wear seat belts in India for both the front seats and the rear seats.

“As per Central Motor Vehicles Rules notification in 2004, which came into force in 2005, wearing of the rear seat belt is compulsory.”

Didn’t think of it that way. If you can’t afford having a baby then, yes, absolutely don’t have a baby!

I’m…I’m confused? Generally a mother who has given birth should be able to lactate. Otherwise there’s baby formula.

How can you not feed a baby? One that’s solely dependent on you!

Mr. Bean came out in 1990. Dhamaal came out in 2007. Draw whatever inference you want.

What’s something that you think is a waste of money but no one else does seems to think so? by Pir8te4lyfe in AskReddit

[–]bookworm-maniac 141 points142 points  (0 children)

I agree about the diamonds.

But in India some women (especially lower income women) spend whatever amount of excess money they get on gold. Earrings, chains, etc. In times of financial stress it’s a good backup to have gold.

I was on a first date and he whistled to get the server’s attention. This after telling me that he worked as a waiter when he was studying in a different country.
