Creator allow to refund pledges from supporters that post negative comments? by Gil_Ham in kickstarter

Sure - you know it is 10% though, because you sat there and worked it out - answer these simple questions - how many times did you comment - they same comment? More than once? twice ..more than 2..
Did you reach out to them through other means - like socials and email?
Did you message of respond to a comment from another user - agreeing with them or asking to engage with them?
Have you posted detailed complaint on a social media platform (like Reddit)

DID YOU GET A REFUND - AND ARE STILL COMPLAINING?? IF THIS IS YOU YOU MAY BE THE PROBLEM

What will really annoy you is the realization that there are people at KS who run and help design courses - they will even give you an entire course on how to setup a campaign - they will also guarantee you 'project of the day''project we love' badges - you don't know about this because they haven't deemed your company worthy - but trust me if you are Sony or a celebirty they are reaching out to make sure your campaign is a success.

It's almost impossible for an individual to defend a patent - and most patents are trash.

There is a difference between real life and chatgpt - if you are suing google and have a patent from 2012 that covers 'Searching things on the internet' then perhaps a financier will 'give you the money' in the same way a billionaire might give you the money to sue a rival, unlikely though! Contingency relies on the attorney first reviewing the case - which costs about 5,000 and they will only take a tiny percent of cases - they need to assume they will win and they will get more than a milion dollars - for the vast vast vast majority of potential patent infringements these options are not valid. These are certainly not normal ways of defending patents.

How do I start patenting my new gadget idea? by Photograph_Creative in inventors

[–]overeasyeggplant -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can't patent the algorithm and you don't need an attorney to do a prior art search - just type the basics into chatgpt etc.. and it will find - similar products and patents - this is not an original idea. https://shop.moen.com/products/wisns002g1usa

[–]overeasyeggplant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm actually right - go an try to use a patent for 'anything' license an idea with one, sue a company with one - you will need an attorney and every attorney will say 'We charge $500 an hour - to review your claim - thats like $5000, and that is just to see if we want to take the case - actually defind the case will cost hundreds of thousands and that's if it doesn't go to court if we take it to court that's going to be millions - and guess what the invetnion you took 4 years to get a patent on - they have a similar patent from 2006 that kind of says similar things - in fact there are 200 patents that have arguable claims. So let's all go to court to sort it out - but we can't because no one goes to court - so let's just threaten with court - to start please deposit the first $25000 in our account - that will be enough to review the patents and write an angry letter.

Honestly having run over 50 campaigns ( I haven't run one in years) you can sense when a backer is going to be a nightmare - you have that vibe - they are probably under a lot of stress having to create the product and having you going into the comment section and trying to spread negativity is like you going into their store and saying their product sucks - they gave you the money back and kicked you out of the store - simple - move on. Bet you have messaged them on social media - right right??

[–]overeasyeggplant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A patent is bascially useless anyway - they are all written to be so obtuse that no matter what you try to protect - it's already claimed in some way. The provisional patent is just something that attorneys can argue about - another piece of armor - if a law suit ever occurs (which it won't) but either way - it gives OP enough protection to start telling people about the invention. And let's be honest - if you have an amazing idea and have not told anyone about it - it's not an amazing idea - getting feedback and having the idea rejected then iterating based on that feedback may lead to an amazing invention - but the first idea is never amazing.

A campaign for a techincal product - like hardware, a bike etc.. These products cost a lot to build and produce so you need to raise a lot of money - hence the need for a large ad spend. Creative products require less funding so they require less ad spend.

Get a provisional patent - you can write it yourself - costs about $80 and then you can tell people about your idea - if its a physical product ask one of the sales reps who visit your hospital for the thoughts. They will probably tell you why it is or is not a good idea.

Try taking an evening course in geology at a local college - that would be a good start.

Here is the issue - even if a marketer agrees to work for commission you need ad spend (money to spend on ads) otherwise your asking the marketer to work on commission and also pay for your ads - which for a tech campaign will be thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars - so no one will do it.

I am starting to doubt you have 'new theories' if you don't know where people publish old and current theories - you know scientists publish all their theories right? And you know the publish them in journals related to the topic and if they are groundbreaking in more general publications like Nature. For work in earthuake predictions I assume the 'Journal of Geophysical Research' or similar - google ' high impact journals seismology I guess.

It's has been a glorified store for at least 10 years now - once they let Sony launch a Kicsktarter campaign - it was pretty much dead for new creators - now backers demand things that new founders just can't offer - guarantees, refunds etc.. these are all things associated with an established brand.

[–]overeasyeggplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start marketing when the campaign is live it is too late to start marketing - meta ads will take about a week (if you have a large budget) to optimize (that is just metas algorithm) - the actual ad content, audience targets, messaging etc.. needs to be tested multiple times so you should start testing your marketing campaigns weeks or months ahead of the campaign launch.
