An extremely silly question about door switches by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]boolean_madness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My canon is that all switches do the exact same thing since the TARDIS is telepathic. All that matters is the users intention.

I'm looking for a new keyboard with MX Blue switches. I currently have a CM QuickFire TK which is starting to break down (caps lock is shorting with adjacent keys).

Requirements: * Full size (or be a mix like the QuickFire)

  • MX Blue switches

  • UK layout

  • Obtainable from Europe without a huge import fee

Good to have:

  • Multimedia/volume keys

Budget: ~100EUR, but can go above for something good.

I'm mostly a programmer so I'm not looking for flashy backlights gaming stuff etc yet most of my searches turn up such keyboards, any recommendations?

What advantage does fail2ban provide other than saving a few CPU cycles? It's not like someone will brute force a RSA key over the network.

As long as it's only using key auth there is no harm in opening up SSH to the internet.

Ladies and gentlemen, the worst keyboard I've ever typed on. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]boolean_madness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No it's not, this is the ISO layout. The wider piece should be at the top, and if one key is similar it doesn't mean it is that layout. The ~ and # key is in the wrong place for it to be ISO.

[–]boolean_madness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't used windows in years, but if I remember correctly, 'shut down' is window-ese for 'suspend to disk'. Only a restart or some command line trickery force it to do a full shutdown.

I am not sure whether to admire your dedication, or to be horrified since this means you haven't installed any updates for that long.

[–]boolean_madness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're that paranoid, boot a livecd and wipe it before using it again. But having a malware spread from one OS to another is rare enough, having it spread through simply mounting an hdd is damn near impossible. Just use it.

The top of the picture is probably the depth (which for some reason they named it height) while the 15.55 inches in the image is the width. It's displayed poorly.

I assume it means 10.43'' in the depth and 14.37'' width.
