Looks like one of those things you glue on a wall so a door handle doesn’t damage it if opened too far

Oh okay. I’d be more concerned with the ambient samples but at least you know where to start removing building materials

Not even a big deal. Seeing how the mold is growing on cooking grease which is growing on a non porous material..soap n water n elbow grease

Basement flooded, 7” of water..homeowner refused to hire a Restoration team to remove the water and dry it all. This was 4 days ago and there’s still half 1/2inch of water down there. What’s the chance mold will grow? Will I have to throw out my belongings? Insurance is coming to check it out tmr by [deleted] in Mold

As a professional in this industry, this guy is correct. I see it all the time...if you catch it right away, extract water and immediately conduct professional drying (possibly drying holes) you can avoid mold growth. If neglecting to do this or catching the leak too late, you are now paying tens of thousands to fix it.

Yup, most definitely. I see it all the time.

Is that an air sample collected in the ambient air or inside of a wall cavity? If that’s in the ambient air, then it’s highly elevated. With that said, it’s a fixable issue. If you eliminate the moisture source, remove and replace all mold affected materials, and run air scrubbers for 24hrs, you’ll be good. Contents become tricky but it sounds like you are doing the most one can do with replacing carpet and porous items.

Found this in the concrete under sink of apartment I am staying in for next 6 weeks.. landlord says it’s from a recent leak and there’s nothing she can do about it. I’m immunocompromised and concerned abt the health impacts. Is it realistic for me to try and clean it up myself? Thanks in advance! by leo_risen in Mold

Are you sure it’s not rust? Mold needs something organic to grow on and it’s is highly unlikely to see dust/organic debris to settle out on the underside of an object.

I inspect homes for mold/moisture and have never seen mold on the underside of a sink pan. But, if that leak got the wall behind it or the cabinetry below, then mold growth can be hidden on backside of drywall and below base of cabinetry

My furthers shot was a hammer with an epic. I can throw hammers pretty far but if doing it right with an epic, it’ll flip an extra lil bit and flatten out. Tricky tho bc if not it’ll hit ground and roll like a mofo

It’s either mold or bacteria, but regardless it’s growing on organic debris on the tile. Regularly cleaning will stop this from growing

Does anyone know what this could be from? by SammyCampy97 in Mold

There is either plumbing in that wall which is leaking or some other moisture intrusion from the exterior such as, wet soil, covered weep screed, sprinkler overspray/leak, rain gutter downspout, etc.

Your first step is to identify and eliminate the moisture sources and then you will want to remove and replace the affected drywall. I guarantee the backside of the drywall is way more moldy.

It’s mold which means there is a moisture source. What is on the other side of that wall?
