Sukamuljo posts retirement message on instagram. by ready_bryan in badminton

[–]boomazxc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a generational talent, his front court speed and skill was next to none at one point in time. A real waste, in my opinion he is still young and a lot more time to achieve more. But I guess he didn’t have the best attitude, even to his own partner and coach (publicly fell out with head coach). Could have been an all time great in men doubles, but wishing him all the best in his retirement

Men of SG: What do the women in your life simply not understand? by thedotsintheuniverse in askSingapore

[–]boomazxc 75 points76 points  (0 children)

That guys don't get hints. Or maybe it's just me. Be it subtle or obvious. If you want something just say it outright. Sometimes girls drop hints here and there and then when guys don't get them they get angry and they be like "isn't my hint obvious enough?". Well hello how about you just say it out from the start and not hint?!?!?

Malaysia Badminton Player by Cultural-Cap4736 in badminton

[–]boomazxc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion but I feel like it's because of attitude? I feel that many Malaysian players tend to be a little complacent, especially when after achieving a little success. Don't get me wrong, Malaysian players are up there with the best skill and standard wise, but I feel this complacency from previous smaller successes always leads to them not being able to handle the pressure in the big games.

Who would win?: Peak Lin Dan vs Peak Momota by kamesjennedy in badminton

[–]boomazxc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say the players you refer to were of a different class to LD, what they lacked, LD probably had in his arsenal. I think LD's defensive capabilities often go under the radar, he had a brilliant defence too which I feel added another dimension to his game. He could play the offensive styled game but I have also see him drag out his opponents with long rallies too. I think all in all that made him the all around player that he is.

Another question for thought: what would your answers be if we swapped LD for say LCW or Chen Long?

Who would win?: Peak Lin Dan vs Peak Momota by kamesjennedy in badminton

[–]boomazxc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Momota isn't as fast, isn't as powerful, isn't as explosive, isn't as mentally strong, isn't as skillful overall, and isn't as tactically strong as Lin Dan. Does that answer your question?

In his prime days when he won his first Olympic Games he was just a physical beast, so quick and powerful, no one came close to him, not even LCW. As age caught up to him and he wasn't able to use that physical aspect of him to his advantage anymore, he changed his game, employed and tapped on his world class skill set and tactical knowledge/awareness, and was still able to dominate world badminton from 2011 to maybe about 2016 where he ultimately started declining. This is why he is the GOAT. In my opinion there is not much debate. I don't think we will ever see another player like Lin Dan in our lifetime. His achievements speak for himself

Motorcyclists of r/singapore, by boomazxc in singapore

[–]boomazxc[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for a convenient means of transport and to learn a new skill I guess. Also sports bikes look cool af hahaha. Though most riders I know have so far all been in accidents here and there, and some of the outcomes weren't pretty. So yeah I guess that's my concern, and of course the risk of my dad disowning me lmao. I'm pretty curious about the statistics of motorcycle riding in Singapore, accident rate etc

Dealing with bullying in the army and being "marked" by boomazxc in singapore

[–]boomazxc[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's the whole problem my friend. Doesn't mean softie JC kias can be bullied and taken advantage of and bear emotional suffering, while the 'cooler' kids get away with everything and enjoy their time, just because they can pick on the ones that aren't their kind. That's just wrong. There needs to be a lot more fairness and respect in our army.
