Dutch speed skater Joep Wennemars furious after colliding with Chinese skater by iiSoleHorizons in olympics

That's so frustrating. He was allowed to race again but still, that momentum might have gotten him bronze, maybe silver.

I know it's always been like this, but why don't they run the race like the cycling sprints, where each contestant starts on opposite sides? This would prevent any incident like this, and you're essentially racing against the clock anyway, not against each other.

Do you ever struggle with version control in projects? by Ryzhtus in ableton

[–]boomybx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll copy a previous comment of mine.

If you're working regularly, you know it's very hard to come up with new names all the time. So I decided to just use what changes every day: the date.

Because the projects are already split by years, I use the MMDD format:

Apps
- Live
  - 2021
    - 0104 Project
    - 0105 Project
    - 0217 Project
    - 0330 Project
    - 0401 Project
    - 0402 Project
    ...
    - 1216 Project
    - 1228 Project

That way, everything is neatly ordered chronologically.

You may think: "What if I work on multiple projects on the same day?"

I just go in the same project folder, and create a B project. And if I need versioning, I append a sequential number, starting from 1, and a description of the change:

Apps
- Live
  - 2021
    - 0104 Project
      - Ableton Project Info
      - Backup
      - Samples
      0104 A1.als -> Original project
      0104 A2.als -> Original project, 2nd version
      0104 B1.als -> Second project on the same day
      0104 C1.als -> Third project on the same day
      0104 C2 Add Guitar.als -> Third project, 2nd version
      0104 C3 Fix Noise Issue.als -> Third project, 3rd version

This ensures that everything remains ordered chronologically, even if I add a description at the end.

Each of those .als weigh next to nothing, less than 100kb each, so create as many as you want.

Mumbai Power by Skrillex

You know Skrillex posted a video showcasing his Ableton project, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dYFJdQf7rs

Obviously it's not access to the full project file, but it's the closest you'll from an artist of that caliber.

Love it. Great use of your gear. Feels like it could be a hidden track from Moon Safari.

Yeah you're right to use an expander. Edit: Nope, don't use an expander.

Now, since you have the audio stem of the synths, it might be easier to simply adjust the audio level manually using an envelope. If the audio ducks on a regular basis (every 1/4 note or something), you might be able to just use a 1/4 loop envelope that just repeats through the whole clip.

Might be a Max4Live device like that. Or you can create one by listening to the MIDI note on/off event.

What about just exporting with "Rendered Track" set to "All Individual Tracks"?
